Chapter 13

"Lost in thought?"

Kai glanced up to see Beomgyu.

"I'm a bit spaced out. Probably because I'm hungry."

"Me too."

The two sat down in their usual spots, and began spooning cereal.

It was very quiet.

Both of them were barely talking, the awkwardness of their morning realization overtaking it all, just focusing on the food.

Yet they wanted to converse together.

Kai swallowed some milk, and sighed.

"Look—"

Suddenly, the two males heard a loud slam against a glass pane, and what sounded like something breaking.

Beomgyu immediately jumped up.

"What was that?!"

Kai calmly stood up.

"A bird probably only hit the window."

"Uh uh. That can't be it!"

"Do you want me to check you worrywart?"

"Worrywart?! I'm just careful!"

The ravenette chuckled.

"It's not an insult."

The brunette huffed.

"F-Fine."

Kai walked towards where the sound came from, but stopped when he saw the window, specifically the pane.

"It cracked the glass," he muttered.

But Beomgyu somehow still heard him, even though he was a distance away.

"What did?"

"I don't know yet I need to check."

Kai pulled the handle down and opened the window.

Only to be shocked by the strong wind coming from outside.

The gusts were so strong that they started to blow the papers scattered around the living room, and bring sand and palm leaves in.

"WOAH HOLY SHIT!!" he screamed, slamming the window back down.

Beomgyu came running to his side and gasped.

The sky outside was even grayer than half an hour ago, and there were hints of green in the clouds as well.

In the distance, the trees were swaying wildly in the wind, losing many leaves and letting them fly around, and the ocean waves were angrily tossing around.

And even more terrifying was the fact there was a huge vortex overhead in the sky, with an empty hole in the center.

"Oh no."

"Is it what I fear it is?" Beomgyu questioned.

Kai nodded.

"I'll go upstairs and make sure everything is locked, you go look for the basement!"

"Be careful."

"Yes, you too, now hurry!"

Kai stormed up the stairs, and entered his room first.

Hurricanes were nothing new for him.
