Strange Guest

Part 1

"The guest will be dressed in clothing that covers basically the entirety of their head so as to not be recognized when entering the village (Konoha), and to not be recognized. The client will have also been told not to make conversation on the way there to ensure the smoothest travel back to Konoha."

After reading the assignment, it was hard for Naruto not to try and guess at who he was escorting, and why they were so important. If they were so important and did something so great for Konoha, why were they going to be disguised? These thoughts floated about his head while heading to the meeting point, which was at the tenchi bridge located at the edge of the land of grass.

As he approached the Tenchi bridge, he saw a dark figure sitting at the opposite end of the bridge in the shadows who seemed to recognize him, and stood up to meet in the middle of the bridge. They both nodded at each other, and Naruto took some of the many things that the figure held.

They started the journey in silence, taking short breaks here and there, but Naruto wasn't very fond of the quiet. He rambled on about his first mission with his team.

"Sakura, who I used to have the biiiigest crush on, was crying over my teammate the entire time. I got my had stabbed and she didn't shed a tear. Oh! I forgot to tell you about my other teammate, Sasuke. Do you know his favorite food? TOMATOES! WHY IS THAT HS FAVORITE?! I really don't get. My main mission is to find him and get my revenge." He said that last bit like Sasuke usually would while talking about his brother. The client let out a little chuckle, with his shoulders sligtly shaking from trying to hold himself back. Naruto laughed his usual goofy laugh, and he continued to talk about his mission in the land of grass.

After 3 hours of travel, they reached the gates of Konoha. He made sure that the client had a scroll permitting their entrance to the village, and with that he left to meet with the Hokage. When he arrived there, he didn't see Tsudsde, but what he did see was a mountain of scrolls, books, and seemingly random items on her desk.

"Baa-Chan I'm back! Are you there??" Naruto peeked around the wall of papers.

"Hey, Gaki." Her eyes had huge bags under them and she looked like the grandma she was, albeit just for a second.

"What's all this Baa-Chan? Did something happen?"

"Well, you know that important person you just brought back? I have to write a whole statement briefing the council on what the situation is, and then I have to write a speech for the people. I also have to send letters to the other nations telling them about the person, and other formalities." Naruto sweat dropped at the list of things she had to do.

"I'm gonna head off to Ichiraku, but good luck Hokage Sama!" As Naruto left, he could hear Tsunade shouting after him, so he laughed and ran faster. He hadn't had his favorite ramen in a while.

He pushed the curtain and shouted a greeting along with his usual order of 'one miso-flavored ramen with extra pork on top!' Not noticing the other customer in the shop. He smelled the sweet scent of tomatoes and finally glanced to his left.

"Oh hey! It's you, the guy I escorted! Settling in ok? This is my favorite ramen place." The guy gave a nod, but before he could say anything, Ayame set his steaming bowl of ramen at Naruto's seat.

"Itadakimasu!" He started slurping up the noodles, broth splattering in his face. Teuchi then started to chat with the customer.

"How's the ramen? I remember this was your favorite. Tomato paste ramen, right? Haha!"

"Hn."

Naruto perked up a bit for a second, but continued eating his food.

This is my first Naruto fanfic. My sister also writes some, so I'm using her. I'm in high school and have a shit ton of homework, so don't expect too much of me (Does know how to do free body diagrams?).
