you and matt had never gotten along. despite knowing each other your whole lives, going on vacation together, having dinner with your families every sunday; you treated each other like you were strangers

and here you were again, arguing. matt had come over to help you study, and as soon as you accepted, you knew it was a bad idea

you were sat next to each other at the kitchen island, while you tried to answer the questions in the textbook in front of you. knowing you were trying to focus, matt did everything he could to distract you

first it was the continuous clicking of his pen

then the tapping of his foot on the floor

then the humming that was so painfully out of tune

"matt please, just shut up for one second" you whisper shouted, not wanting to distract your parents from the film they were watching across the room

"why should i?" he retorted

"so i can fucking focus" you replied, rolling your eyes

despite your complaint, he continued tapping his pen against the counter top. "fuck this" you spoke, getting up and walking up the stairs

once you reached your bedroom, you threw your stuff on the floor and sat on the edge of your bed, your head in your hands, tears of frustration threatening to break free from your eyes

a knock on the door was what pulled you out of the sadness you had been sucked in to. "come on sweetheart, i was only messin'" matt taunted, walking in your room

"oh please, what a load of shit. you love pissing me off and you don't even care about the effect it has on me" you spoke, standing up and walking towards the boy in front of you

"you know that none of the stuff i say is true"

"do i?"

"don't you?"

"no, i don't, you know, maybe if it was just once i wouldn't believe it - but when it's the same thing over and over again, it's not a joke anymore" you shouted, the tears breaking from your eyes "over and over and over again - when will it end matt?"

"hey, it's not like you don't say shit to me too!" he started, defending himself

"i don't say the kind of stuff that you do and you know it" you pointed, prodding at his chest "why me matt?" you questioned, tired of the constant fighting "it's always fucking me and i've never done shit to you"

"because-"

"because what matt? and don't give me some half-assed excuse" you asked, tired of his bullshit

he paused, as if he was deciding what to say next

"because i-" he drifted off

"because you what?" you questioned "because you hate me?" you whispered "because i'm so fucking hard to be around?" you shoved him backwards slightly, but he didn't move. his lack of response started to piss you off, so you kept pushing him with every question "because for some reason, despite me having done nothing to you, you just can't stop yourself from being a complete and utter twat who can't resist bringing me down every second of every-"

you were cut off when matt grabbed your shoulders, holding you steady and smashed his lips onto yours

taken by surprise, you immediately pulled away "what the fuck!" you exclaimed, the air knocked from your lungs. just for a second, it was silent as you stared into each others eyes. "fuck it" you muttered, and pulled matt's head down to meet his lips.

your hands locked around his neck as his gravitated down to your waist as his lips travelled down your neck, your head falling into the crook of his. "what the fuck" you whispered into his skin, a smile forming on you face as he held you tightly to him
