𝟮𝟬 ͏͏͏͏͏͏ ͏͏͏͏͏͏ ͏͏͏͏͏͏⠀Sweet Revenge

Start from the beginning

"Here you go."

"Don't throw i-"

Jake is already tossing the whisk across the island before Sujin even finishes uttering the warning.

That little-

Luckily, she's able to react fast enough - though not without a frustrated huff - so that it flies right into her awaiting palms.

He grins, "Nice catch."

This guy is gonna be the death of me.

An unintelligible grumble escapes Sujin's lips as she makes work of beating the eggs to a frothy consistency. Her grip on the steel whisk only tightens the more of Jake's obnoxiously laidback tone she picks up from across the room, her annoyance piling up until she's unleashing all of her pent up frustrations on the poor old mixing bowl before her.

"Whoah, whoah, whoah. Okay -" A voice cuts through her thoughts, as soft as it is cautious. Sunghoon places a hand over the girl's own to slow her frantic movements,  "- I think they're beaten enough."

Cheeks flushed, Sujin purses her lips in agreement.

"Don't worry," Ever the gentleman, Sunghoon pries the bowl from her grasp with an understanding smile, "I've got it from here."

Sujin mumbles a barely coherent "Thanks", too embarrassed to bring herself to do anything else but watch the boy finish pouring in the rest of the wet ingredients himself. She's only rooted to the ground in dumb silence.

Fuck!

It's totally beyond her how something as stupid as Jake's presence is able to rile her up this much. All the while he's popping maraschino cherries into his mouth without a care in the world! She can even hear him humming to himself, for crying out loud; not a single thought behind those glittering molten honey eyes.

God, he's the absolute worst.

She does her best to keep the venom from seeping into her mannerisms as she watches Jake and Sunghoon start to fold their own powdery chocolate concoction into the mixing bowl. They take turns stealing licks of batter from its rim, even offering her a chance to do the same, but she declines the treat with a stubborn shake of the head.

"Last chance..." Sunghoon coos in a singsong tone. He spreads the mixture over a few trays, brows wiggling in playful enticement, "I know you want to."

"I'm good, thanks." Sujin replies flatly.

In some other universe, she's sure she'd be leaping at this chance with open arms. She's got quite the sweet tooth, ironically enough, and can hardly remember the last time she'd passed on an opportunity to lick the spoon. But not right now. Not when the orchestrator of all her troubles is standing less than ten feet away.

Maybe another time.

She helps the two boys slide the trays into an awaiting oven, after which Jake pries his phone from the pocket of his oversized cargos to set an alarm for 20 minutes.

"Now, we wait." He states.

Sunghoon leans against the counter with a particularly dramatic sigh, "I wish time would go faster. I just want to dig in already!"

"It's been three seconds, dude." Jake rolls his eyes, "We haven't even started on the cherries, cream, or the frosting."

"And what about it?" The Park boy humphs.

"Whatever you say, drama queen."

The answer to Sunghoon's prayers come in the form of an insistent buzzing against the countertop. Bzzz. Bzzz. Bzzz. The boy hops atop the island to grab his phone, feet dangling in the air as he gawks at the Caller ID flashing across the screen.
