"We sink," Mack concluded.
"Metaphorically, yes," Jemma said, grimly, "for us, that means a jump within a jump, which leads to..." she put her hands on her hips, "honestly, I have no idea."
Lisa hated that. Jemma always knew. Sure, the girl might not have always understood necessarily, but Jemma always found a way.
She felt her nails dig into her hand. Elena, seeing this, put a hand on the girl's arm. The nails were pulled out of the hand, and Lisa took in some shaky breaths. Elena didn't say anything, instead wrapping Lisa's arm with both of her's.
"Finally," Sousa said, "the scientist from the future and I are on the same page."
"But can't we just disconnect the fuel cell regulator?" Deke queried.
"We would," Enoch answered, walking into the room with power in his strides, "if we could reach it."
He brought up video footage of the room the machine was in. A sort of strong-wind-forcefield-thing was protecting it, "the field is cycling at a rate of forty-nine pulses per second, and it appears to disintegrate anything it touches."
"So we need to find a way to slow down those pulses," Sousa said, just so everyone was on the same page.
"Or move fast enough to go between them," May added. They all looked to Elena.
The woman, however, sighed, "the drive's not the only thing that's broken. If that Shrike hadn't taken away my powers, then maybe –"
"Wait," Sousa interjected with, "what can you do?"
"Speed," Lisa said out loud. Sousa nodded. Glad to be up to speed. (Ha).
"Simmons," May called, "do you have any other theories as to what happened to Yo-Yo?"
Oh, Lisa noticed, May was wearing her SHIELD gear again. And her hair was brought down. There was no real talk on their mission. And Lisa liked that. Seemed they were respecting her space.
She didn't want to think about that awful place. She now understood why Aaron buried everything. It helped keep it all at bay. Then again, his power did also feed off of it, so –
"I wish I did," Jemma's words brought Lisa back to reality, "but I just don't know enough about Inhuman biology to –"
"My mum does," everyone turned at the sight and voice of a moving – but still very pale – Daisy Johnson.
"Daisy, you should be resting." Sousa said, his tone becoming slightly admonishing alongside the concern he held with his mention of her name.
"I'm ok," she assured her friends, "1983, right?" she checked. At the nods, she then continued her theory, "Jiaying is at Afterlife. If anyone knows how to cure Inhuman powers, it's her."
"Can we get there in time?" Elena asked Jemma, arm tightening a bit around Lisa's. Hope was filling her.
Jemma tapped on the computer a few times, seemingly running the numbers in her head.
"Well, you could make it if you leave before the next jump," the scientist offered.
"Ok," Mack said, looking around his team and formulating a plan in his head, "May, you've been to Afterlife before. Prep the Quinjet, but do not leave until I give the order."
"Well, I need coordinates and a countdown here. Alright? I'm not doing time math." May said, taking the watch off.
Mack then softened his voice as he looked to Daisy, "I don't have to list the implications for you. So, let's talk this through before we pull the trigger."
