Chapter 6 - Part I & II

Start from the beginning

Has he bought that for me?

I think that maybe this could be Jenifer's, but I notice a big tag written "Hope," hanged on the robe. I would rather a pair of pants and a big shirt to sleep instead, but I guess this will be enough. Well, make do with what..., I sigh. Oh, come off it, Sarah! It's a silk robe, for God's sake! I take it off the hanger I walk up to the door beside the wardrobe. The big bathroom is adorned in pearl and gold matching the bedroom perfectly. Delicate and fancy.

I leave the robe on the armchair next to the sink, and I get a little clumsy to take the clothes off without forcing the injured arm.

When the warm water touches my skin, the burning feeling I was expecting does not come out. In its place, it comes a sense of relaxing and pure relief. This shower calms me down and, at the same time, makes me face another challenge: walking a tightrope whenever I am next to Thomas. Every time I try to remember that I am here just because I want to get the contract and that I can't call him stupid, let alone surrender to his charm. I don't blame him for teasing me. He hunts anything that walks by nature, he is a merciless predator. The contract he kept with Jenifer proofs it. A totally heartless and fragile relationship. What kind of man does this proposal?

What I have to do is to keep me on the straight and narrow, and live the life I have chosen to live for now on. The more I want to release the old Sarah and show Thomas how to play the teaser like a real adult. I am not going to do this. His luck is that, at the moment, LN is essential to me. Look how I am making abbreviations, I feel like the restaurant owner. I laugh at myself and let the hot water take my frustrations down the drain.

I wash my hair with a shampoo that has a fantastic smell, and I soap my body carefully. My ribs hurt and I think I have a bruise on the back of my head.

I leave the shower, and I dry off myself with the first towel I see. I wrap it up like a turban around my wet hair, and I walk naked through the fancy bathroom. By the moment I get the silk nightdress, I notice that I forgot to look for underwear. I hope that Thomas's employee has bought underwear. This is ridiculous, but I didn't expect him to buy any other cloth, so I decide to check. I wear a silk nightdress, and then the robe. The fabric passes over my skin like a caress, and I feel already feel like crying for having to leave this piece of cloth tomorrow. I fold my clothes, come back to the bedroom, and leave them on the bed. I open the wardrobe again, but I can't find anything like panties and bra. I search in some drawers, and I finally see one with some underwear. I picture the poor Lueji selecting what to buy. Oh God! I'm mortified. I choose panties with ribbons, the only one that is not a thong. Wearing a thong would let more embarrassed than I already am, so go for something comfortable is my obvious choice.

I close the robe by tying it, and I go toward the hall to meet Thomas. Let's finish this.

As I approach the living room, I hear a soft song taking over the place. The silk robe flies while I walk, tickling my legs. The room is half-lighted and entirely empty. A click on the terrace door and Thomas appear in the outdoor area, holding a cellphone in his hand. He does not notice me at first, but when he sees me, I prefer he wouldn't have done it. His eyes slowly slide from top to bottom over my body, first in surprise, then with obvious joy, making me like want hold onto something. Shit. His dark eyes and tight jaw are everything I can look at now. He keeps searching for something lost in my cleavage for long seconds, and he gives a calculated step forward. The soft light makes shadows on his body, and it hides some of his aspects, but it is possible to feel his gaze burning on me. I am dealing with Thomas at a dangerous level, it is not difficult to see it. Two days with him, and I already know I must be careful.

"You forgot this outside," he says in a raspy voice.

Silent walk, deep breathing, soft voice, intense gaze. He is a born predator. My body freeze and I try to tight the robe a bit more but with no success.
