There's been a lot of unease lately that Amelia has noticed.
It's in everyone, even in the air.
Everywhere they go, in everything they do, possibly even think.
Anxiety is probably a better word for it when they feel all types of worry on a daily now. She feels it too. It's uncertain when it will occur and how they'll deal with it when it does.
A couple of days ago, The Head Alpha had called everyone to gather in the center of their camp. Distress was heavily detected in his scent despite his neutral expression. Amelia was in a good distance from him, not as near as the majority of wolves yet she still smelled it from afar. This obviously meant something was wrong since it was this prominent.
When all the wolves were finally gathered around, whispering to each other in concern, he cleared his throat and began to inform everyone that the neighboring pack (North Pack) wanted to expand and take over their land. Amelia watched as the wolves around shared worried glances with their family and friends.
Her heart had also began racing in fear.
"The reason being.." the Head alpha sighed and Amelia held her breath, preparing for the next words he would speak. Then he continued, saying "to gain more wolves and more resources. Our resources."
But that wasn't even the worst part. His next words were.
"If we don't submit by the end of the moon cycle, battle will come."
The Head Alpha's facade had broken and distress was not only shown in his scent, but on his face too with those last words. It spread to everyone who was listening.
Fearful gasps were heard and terrified looks were exchanged amongst the crowd and Amelia's heart had begun to hammer harder at the horrifying announcement. What did this mean? Are they really targeted to be taken over?
She worriedly watched the Head Alpha try to calm down the crowd when everyone began to panic. Children amongst them seemed to not worry about anything in the world, but their parents were the complete opposite.
There have only and always been five packs in the forest, never less or more. It traces back many years when the Moon Goddess separated all of them as punishment when the beginning wolves turned vicious against each other, including her.
She created 100 wolves to live in peace and harmony alongside her on earth millions of years ago. She taught them the right ways to live, what should be done, and what should not be done. She was worshiped at her temple and rewarded her wolves with many blessings. Her favorite reward was and probably still is...love.
Two centuries went by with peace, love, and harmony, just how things were supposed to be. She was pleased with her creation and loved every single one. However, before the fourth century could roll in, conflict began to arise within the wolves. Conflicts and fights that just increased more over time were getting out of hand to the point where even the Moon Goddess herself was not being listened to anymore.
So as punishment for their recklessness and disobedience, that's when she split all the wolves into five permanent packs in the forest. She left Earth to go to her home realm, leaving everyone down here to fend for themselves since they claimed they didn't need to listen to her anymore.
Okay.. she didn't leave them, she still looks over them from above and rewards the ones who still believe and follow her ways. As long as they are good wolves with pure intentions and believe she is their goddess they will be alongside her after death.
Amelia is among the section who believe in her and wish dearly she was still on earth with them so she could see her with her own eyes and give her all of her undeniable love. All the books with sketches and old stone carvings of her showed how beautiful she was, but Amelia also knows those can never do justice compared to actually seeing her face to face.
