Thud. The throwing star hit the dummy right in the forehead. Sophie cheered. 'Fourteen points! We're winning.' Jolie smiled at her younger partner's display of enthusiasm, and her opponents grim scowls. 'Come on, Alvar. Hit the target properly for once.' Brant was a sore loser when it came to training, and often took it out on his teammate. Fortunately, Alvar didn't mind being criticised and only laughed off the snipe.
'Team Rebelde, meet us in the library urgently.' The group's friendly banter was interrupted by Fintan's voice crackling on the speakers.

Brant, Jolie, Sophie and Alvar all made up the best undercover spy group the Neverseen had, Team Rebelde. They were often sent out on missions across the human globe to gather more intel on certain happenings that the Neverseen needed information on.

Sophie exchanged glances with her quartet, then sighed and reluctantly put down her training weapons. It was supposed to be their day off, but duty always called in the middle of something fun. They all hurried off in the direction of the library.
When they arrived, Sophie saw all of the 'important' members of the Neverseen gathered around one of the big mahogany tables set in the centre of the room. The bookshelves enclosing the table created a calm atmosphere, but the presence of the Neverseen leaders drowned out that sensation. Fintan was ok, though. He was relatively nice to everyone. It was just the two women who causes problems.

Unusually, the library was devoid of any other people. That was a sign of a serious talk coming along, and Sophie was nervous about what would happen.
Fintan, Gisela, and Vespera were all surrounding the table, both women wearing identical scowls and Fintan having a slightly more pleasant look on his face. To the left of them were Ruy and Gethen, offering small smiles instead of the unwelcoming facial expressions.
Sophie swallowed hard. Had they found out about her weekly visits to the pantry? Where they upset because Brant took all the good prattles pins out of the bags? Did they know that Jolie had taken one of Vespera's cloaks to decorate when she was bored? Had they been informed of Fintan's new hobby, blacksmithing (he wasn't very good at it, he didn't have the muscles to pound a piece of scrap metal into the shape of anything remotely like a blade)? But what the leaders said next shocked the entire group into silence.

'We need you to go undercover in the Lost Cities. Alvar, Brant, Jolie, I know that you may not want to go because of your past history with... those sort of elves, but it's important that you do this.' Fintan gave a sympathetic smile to the team when he saw the group, minus Sophie, 's shoulders slump. 'Wha- what? Why don't you guys want to go to the elvin world? What happened?' Sophie was desperately trying to find the answers to why her friends where upset. She couldn't, no matter how hard she tried to concentrate on her memories.

Sophie knew Jolie had lived in Enternilia for 16 years with her fiancé, Brant, but she didn't know the full background of the two. Alvar had only mentioned being part of a famous family and being pressured to be the 'perfect son', and Sophie hadn't ever pushed  the subject any further than it was wanted. But she knew that the members of the Neverseen had become a part of the rebel organisation willingly, or at least never said otherwise. They were happy though, and that was all that mattered. So what was their problem? Sophie touched Jolie's arm gently, her warm touch snapping the girl out of her daze. The boys shook their heads to clear their minds. 'O-ok,' Jolie stuttered, all traces for her cheerful self wiped from her demeanour, ' I'll go. Do whatever you want me to do. But promise me one thing, Fintan. Promise me that I won't have to see... them.'
Fintan shook his head. 'I won't promise you that, Jolie, because you're bound to see them, or someone you know walking around in the city. But I- no, we- trust you all that you won't break or lose your sense of reality to the wrong side. We need you to do this, you three are the only ones who know enough about the Bla-, ' Fintan stopped himself just in time. 'The council. Please.' Jolie bit her lip nervously, but nodded all the same. Sophie was still trying to figure out what had happened in the Lost Cities to cause such a depressing reaction. Unfortunately, she didn't find an answer.
'That is all. Ruy will head over to Slurps and Burps in the morning for some disguise elixirs, and Gethen will show you the files of everyone you need to know in the Elvin world. I'll get someone to bring over your files, and you can have the next two days off to study and master your new roles.' Gisela glanced at her companions to see if they had anything to add, and when they didn't, she dismissed Team Rebelde with a flick of her wrist.

Once back at the training room, they began to pick up their discarded weapons. Sophie didn't need to be an empath to sense the tension filling the room, so she suggested they go eat in the dining hall. It was about time for dinner anyway.

———————-

I just realised that some of you may get confused or need more info on the characters, so I'll try to explain everything now.

Sophie has had her memories of the Black Swan and all her friends and family wiped. Something could still trigger them but the washer was quite good at his job and hid them well.
Jolie joined the Neverseen because she wanted to be an ally to Sophie, and she wanted to be with Brant. Her memories of the Black Swan were wiped too, but only enough so that she believes the Black Swan are bad. Her memories of Grady and Edaline and all the other elves are still intact. Only those with the Black Swan are made out to be evil.
Brant wanted to support his mentor, Fintan, so he joined the Neverseen. Just to be clear, Brant hasn't killed anyone. Also, Brant still has his hand and isn't entirely bad.
Gisela is evil, so is Verspera.
Fintan is more like Councilor Emery. Nice at times, but can be mean when he wants to be. He supports Team Rebelde, though.
Alvar is sort of like Jolie, but because he was constantly pressured by his family to be the best, he has more bad memories about them. Everyone else is the same as they were in the orignal kotlc books.
Sophie's abilities are the same as they are originally in the books, and for now let's just pretend that the Neverseen know that she is allergic to limbium. Anything else will be the same as is is in the kotlc books, just tweak it so it's the Neverseen and not the Black Swan.
