"Morning, sleepyhead," she grins at me.

"Morning, gumdrop," I yawn, stretching out.

"Can I make you breakfast?" She rolls over onto her stomach next to me.

"You don't have to do—"

"Please, Lincoln. I want you to take care of yourself. I want to help you take care of yourself. You don't understand how much this means to me," she whispers, brushing hair off of my forehead. "How much you mean to me."

God, she can make me breakfast for the rest of our damn lives if that's how she feels about it.

"Anything for you, gumdrop," I kiss her cheek.

"Thank you," she smiles.

Paisley Barrett is a 23 year old hopeless romantic and a bookworm. She romanticizes everything in her mind, and hopes that when she meets her forever person, they will have the perfect little meet cute, just like all the romance books she loves to read.

Lincoln Abbott does not feel the same way about relationships. He thinks of everyone as flings. Partly because he thinks long-term commitment is too much work and a waste of time, and partly because he hasn't found anyone who is willing to deal with his diabetes.

Diabetes runs in Paisley Barrett's family. She knows exactly how important it is to take care of your blood sugar. So when she meets Lincoln Abbott—a carefree twenty five year old who doesn't take care of his diabetes—she makes it her goal to get him to let her in so she can take care of him. As they start talking, they realize that there is more between them, and they want more than just friendship.

Hey guys! This is my second story.

I just barely got the idea for this story, and I don't know if I will end up writing it, but I wanted to just see if it is something you would be interested in.

I got the idea for this story from my family, actually! I have a couple family members that are type one diabetics, and recently, there was an incident where one of them ended up having a low blood sugar. I decided after that, that I wanted to try to write about that! Not what happened to him, but just to kind of like spread awareness, I guess? I don't know. I want people to understand what it's like having a condition like this, or any other ones. There's been so many times where I hear people making fun of someone for having conditions. It really bothers me when people make comments about people's health conditions because they don't understand them, and I thought that this might be a way for me to put it into writing, because I have a little more experience with the whole thing than most people probably do! With that being said, if you do have diabetes, or know someone that does, and I write something wrong, or something that feels offensive, please message me! I don't want to write something in here that is completely wrong or rue because I want to try to show other people how hard these things can be for people families, and friends to deal with! I also know that just because it's a certain way in my family, it could be completely different for someone else's family.

(Also, I'm sorry if any of this sounds like I'm being rude or anything, lol. Or that I'm trying to be like a know-it-all or something, and I feel like sometimes when I'm writing, if I'm saying anything straightforward, a lot of times I feel like it comes off rude 😅. That's not my intention at all. I really just want to be able to shed some light on how hard it can be to live with medical conditions when people don't understand them, or are impolite people can be because of them!)
