"Ah, how nice to see you two warming up to each other."
The introduction of a third voice has both Sujin and Jake practically jumping apart from one another; magnets repelling as quickly as they'd been drawn together. Sujin's features immediately sour in disgust, whilst Jake's deer-in-the-headlights expression makes him look like a kid who'd just been caught with one hand in the cookie jar.
Headmistress Jeong raises a suspicious brow at the pair, "Am I interrupting something?"
"No!" They gawk in unison, heads turning to shoot each other a glare at the questionable timing.
Yeah... Real believable.
The Headmistress seems far too preoccupied with other things, however, to pay the interaction any more mind - and thank God for that. She sets the stack of paperwork cradled in her arms atop her desk before continuing to speak.
"Three strikes in one week..." She reclines in her chair with a sigh, "Quite the feat, Miss Han."
"Thanks." Sujin replies sarcastically, sliding into her own seat, "I've always thought of myself as an overachiever."
She hears Jake let out a scoff at that as he returns to his place next to her.
The girl side-eyes him through her peripheral vision, "Though I can't take all the credit. Your little lapdog here's been putting in the work."
"Lapdog?!"
"I see..." Headmistress Jeong cuts Jake's protest short with a subtle yet all the more stern look, "I knew I hadn't made a mistake placing my trust in him."
"Placing your- Huh?" Sujin frowns as the cogs in her brain begin to turn.
Suddenly, it all clicks into place.
"Oh."
Her eyes widen in realization, and she swears she can feel every last rational screw in her head go loose in pure, white-hot rage.
Oh. My. God.
"You were fucking spying on me?!"
"Hey! Language -"
At this point, a curse word or two should be the Headmistress' last concern. If anything, she should consider herself lucky there aren't any sharp objects within the girl's reachable distance - because if there were, they'd most probably be getting thrown right in Jake's annoyingly nonchalant face.
"I can't believe you!" Sujin turns in her seat to face the boy. His expression is totally unreadable - Shock? Fear? Maybe even regret? - but it does absolutely nothing to dim the heat blazing through her entire body, "You are such a goddamn pushover, Jake!"
He folds his arms over his chest, "You're overreacting. Chill, Sujin."
"Chill... Chill?!"
If looks could kill, Jake Sim would be six feet under.
Is he fucking insane?!
That's literally the last thing you should say to someone who - for the record - is most definitely not chill!
"You heard me right."
"Oh, you are sooo-"
"Alright, that's enough!" Headmistress Jeong slams both hands against the wood of her desk. Her domineering voice matched with the resounding Bang! of the action has both Jake and Sujin pressing their lips shut. She looks between the two teenagers, chest heaving in exasperation, "Are you done?"
Jake gulps, "Yes ma'am."
Sujin rolls her eyes. I haven't even gotten started.
"I'll say it once and only once - I don't have time for this petty nonsense." The Headmistress massages her temples tiredly, "Sujin, drop it. Jake was just doing his job, and it's your own fault for slipping up."
"I-"
"I said drop it, Miss Han." She repeats, about a hundred times firmer, "Unless you'd like me to double your punishment, hm?"
Sujin clenches her jaw.
"That's what I thought."
What a bitch.
"Seeing as you've wasted my valuable time with your little outburst, I'll keep what's left of this meeting short and sweet." The Headmistress states, "You're well aware of the consequences of your actions by now - a week's worth of community service, starting tomorrow. I expect to see you here at 5pm on the dot."
Sujin inwardly groans.
"And I'll be having a word with your mother about this too."
For the love of God, just kill me already.
Even Jake sucks in a pitiful breath at that.
Headmistress Jeong purses her lips, "All clear, Miss Han?"
Sujin mutters something under her breath.
"Speak up, Sujin. Are we all clear?"
She forces it out in a hiss - "Yes."
"Good." The Headmistress replies. She gives the pair in front of her no further acknowledgement, attention already turned back to the paperwork on her desk as she delivers her final words, "You're both excused. Don't forget to close the door on your way out."
Sujin rises from her seat and all but stomps out of the room, making a point to reach the door before Jake does. Before he's able to squeeze through behind her, she slams it right in his face.
So much for "chill"...
