Not Over You

Chapter 1

Growing up was hard for me. Mostly because I didn't also have friends, that was until I met the boys I called my best friends. But alas even the good times had to end they went and became the famous band 5 Seconds Of Summer. Eventually, I became Famous too working on Projects such as Outer Banks, Stanger Things, and a few romcoms here and there. Even My little brother earned his fame with his band Why Don't We. My Little brother is none other than Jonah Marais.

Anywho, I got invited onto the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. I was with my brother Jonah. He was celebrating being free from his management contract. I was celebrating the new movie I was in, After Everything, part of the After Frnatchise.

"Welcome to the Tonight Show, today we are joined by Jonah Marais and His Succesul sister y/n," Jimmy says with enthusiasm. "Thank you for having us", I say looking over to Jonah. "Yes thank you," He said looking at me and smiling.

Now Jonah I understand you and your band, Why Don't We just get freed from your contract with your managers? And y/n, you have a new movie coming out that you're staring in?" Jimmy asks us.

"Yes I do have a new movie coming out that I'm Celebrating but I think Jo's news is more important to celebrate," I say smiling at my brother. "I'm just happy to be away from those people, but I'm really happy for my sister," Jo says.

"Well since we are all celebrating I thought we could play a game today. It is a singing battle, but there is a catch, your opponent picks the song and someone random comes from behind the curtain and sings a duet with you. Who wants to go first?" Jimmy explains to us.

"I'll go," Jo says offering a hand to me while I sit up from my chair and walk over to the side stage.

"So Avery What song will Jonah Sing?" Jimmy asks. "How about Viva La Vida Coldplay". I smirk knowing who is behind the curtain for my brother. I was asked by Jimmy to help pick out the guest. I chose my brother's bandmate Zach. Zach is taking a break from the internet. Jo hasn't seen him in a long time so I figured it would be a nice surprise.

Jonah Starts to sing when Zach appears from behind the curtain. Zach has always been like my little brother. all of the boys in the band have. They have been through so much shit that they don't deserve. Jonah turned around with shock on his face and tears in his eyes. He ran up to Zach and hugged him.

I smile knowing how happy I made my brother. I am a little nervous to see who is behind the curtain for me. Zach comes up to me and hugs me. "Hey, Congrats on finally being free," I say into his shoulder. While Zach is short we are the same height. "Thanks," he says pulling away from me.

"All Right that was a lovely reunion, Jonah your turn to pick a song," Jimmy says to Jo.

I switch places with him and now I have the microphone. My nerves are going crazy, the pit of my stomach gets the feeling like when you go on a roller coaster. You get the bottomless pit that makes you anxious not knowing what is next.

"Let's go with Long Way Home, By 5 Second Of Summer," Jo says smirking at me. While I'm not close with 5sos anymore I still know all of their songs, I actually helped write this one. My face gets red, I start singing the words to it and I hear the all too familiar voice from behind me. The voice I could recognize a mile away.

I turned my body around to see the face I hadn't seen in almost ten years when they left for fame. Luke Hemmings still looked good even after all these years. I run to him and jump into his arms burying my face in his neck. Tears running down my cheeks, at this point I don't care about my makeup. "Hey there," He whispers in my ear.

"I missed you dingus," I say as we both release from the hug. "I missed you too, Pickles," I cringe happily at the childhood nickname he called me.

"Thank You for being on the show guys," Jimmy says to us. "Your welcome," I say wiping the tears from my eye. We all say our goodbyes and leave.

Luke pulls me aside by his car while Jo and Zach catch up with each other. "I'm Sorry," Luke says with sincerity in his eyes. "For what, making me cry" "No, for a lot, there is so much I want to say to you. I was wondering if we could meet up for coffee sometime?"Luke says.

"I can't wait for coffee want to come to my place tonight?" I ask him. " What about Jo?" "He'll probably go with Zach, also I ubered her so I don't have to worry about a car, we can take yours,". Luke agrees so I walk over to Jo to tell him. "Be safe ok I love you" he says to me. "Love you too, Bye Jo, Bye Zach it was good to see you again." I hug them both and walk over to Luke. "Let's go so I can get into comfy clothes" "Yes ma'am," He says opening the door for me. "Why thank you, kind sir,"

I put my address into the GPS and he started driving. I turn up the radio, and I giggle at the song.

Luke starts screaming the lyrics "AND I REALIZE IF YOU ASK ME HOW I'M DOING I WOULD SAY I'M DOING JUST FINE I WOULD LIE AND SAY YOUR NOT ON MY MIND" "BUT I GOT OUT, AND I SIT DOWN AT A TABLE SET FOR TWO," I scream with him.

"AND FINALLY I'M FORCED TO FACE THE TRUTH NO MATTER WHAT I SAY OR DO I'M STILL NOT OVER YOU!" we scream in unison.

I think about this song and the lyrics they meant more to me than just words. While I was really close with all of the boys I had a special connection with Luke. He was my best friend.

When they left I lost a part of me. I got really depressed. I wouldn't talk to anyone, I stayed in my room. I always kept up with them and their albums. I love them they are my family. But, Luke was always more, from the moment I met him I felt like I could be myself and not put on a mask like I put on for everyone else.

When he left I lost myself, I even watched him fall in love with someone else. I always had feelings for Luke. I used those strong feelings to write music, I had written music with them before but never solo. Eventually, I started writing music for my brother and his band.

Writing music was a sense of escape, the world around me didn't matter when I was making music.
