the next day i woke up early for school surprisingly
i just couldn't wait to meet the new family next door but at school i was hoping to be friends with them.
i quickly got dressed and grabbed my book bag and was already downstairs eating breakfast by the time hartley came inside.
hartley and me took turns meeting at the other persons house everyday before school
"well you're ready early" the girl says as i smile at her
"yeah i'm just really excited" i say to her as we head out the door.
when we got to school, i walked to where my classes where in the freshman area and went over to my locker
as i was putting things in and out, i finally shut the locker door to reveal colby leaning against the locker next to mine.
"gah!" i say, startled
colby then smiled and stood up from the locker.
"hey" he said to me smiling
"hey. what classes do you have?" i ask him as he shrugs
"i was thinking about just skipping"
"on your first day your gonna skip?" i ask him and he nods
"wanna come?" he asks me smirking
i looked down to my hands thinking about it
i guess it could be fun
"sure..?" i say and it comes out more of a question than a real statement making colby laugh.
then the bell rang
colby looked at me with a questionable look on his face eight a half smile.
"pretty please"
i rolled my eyes "fine but idk showing you where" i say as he smiles back at me
"where we going?" he asks as i lead the way out the front doors
"the ladies in the office never really pay any attention to anything around them" i say when i see colby staring at the inside of the building, probably worrying about being caught
"okay" he says as we keep on walking
we kept walking for a little while since we had to cross the road once but we didn't go very far.
we just walked to the little park that was in between the school and our houses.
in our town you could walk to anywhere.
once we approached the park i threw down my stuff and ran over to the playground, colby following not far behind.
i sat down on one of the double slides and slid down to find colby sitting at the end of the other one.
"hi" i say turning my body to face him and bringing my legs up to sit cross cross.
"hi" he says smiling back at me.
"so why would you wanna skip on the first day?" i ask him as he just shrugs his shoulders
"school is boring"
"that is true" i say as i walked over to the swings and sit down as colby sits in the one next to me
i start swinging for a while as colby just spaced out for a while.
"so what's your family like?" he asks after a while of silence and the screeching of the metal chains the swings were attached to.
"it's just my aunt and my little cousin" i say as i stir swinging my legs and wait for the swing to slow down on its own.
