Chapter 2: A Surprise Encounter

Start from the beginning

"Why, of course, Ki-" Big-Sis Rizer started, but Daddy cut her off. "Who are you?" he asked. Big-Brother Kin stared blankly at him. "W-what do you mean?" he chuckled nervously. "You know who I am."

"Yeah, I do," Daddy said. "The question is, do you know yourself?" Big-Brother began to shake and he curled his paws. "I... I... Uhh..." he stuttered. "That's what I thought," Daddy said, and suddenly threw a sharp leaf at him. It hit Big-Brother Kin, and he held the spot where he was hit, grunting. "Foly!" Big-Sis Rizer shouted. "What was that fo-" but before she could finish, Big-Brother Kin started to change. His fur became darker until it was black, and his head fur lengthened and became red. "You Zoroarks can't fool me," Daddy said coldly, glaring at the creature. "I know your trickery, and I won't fall for it."

"You little brat..." the Zoroark growled, and shot fire at us. I screamed as Daddy grabbed us and jumped out of the way of the flames, narrowly dodging the attack. "Stay here," he told us, and he ran back out to fight the Zoroark. I hid behind the bush, terrified. I didn't want Daddy to get hurt, but I was too afraid to try to help. "I-it'll be alright," Big-Sis Rizer said, trying to calm me and herself down. I nodded and looked back towards the fight, hoping Daddy wouldn't get hurt too badly.

Foly's POV

Fighting a Zoroark is NOT fun, by any means of the definition. As long as my siblings and I have lived in these woods, they've always tried to deceive and attack others, and it took some time for me to pick up on their trickery. Learning to expose a Zoroark is one thing, though. Learning to fight a Zoroark, on the other paw, is a whole other problem. They always seem to have one or more moves that can do severe damage to you, making them really obnoxious to fight. Just as an example, this one seems to specialize in Flamethrower, but others I've seen have Aerial Ace. It's rough to deal with.

However, when it comes to my family and friends, I'm not backing down from a fight. The sprouts on my legs glowed as I used Sunny Day, intensifying the sun, which made its Flamethrower stronger... but also doubled my speed, as well as made Solar Blade and Solar Beam work immediately. It laughed when it saw this. "My, you are foolish," it taunted me. "You just made my Flamethrower stronger."

I merely growled and summoned multiple Solar Beams around me, ready to blast the Zoroark into oblivion. Its eyes widened as it saw this, and its smirk immediately disappeared. I launched the Solar Beams at it, and it didn't have enough time to react. It got hit by all of the beams as I produced a Solar Blade from my front left leg, essentially making it a long sword. I slashed the energy at the Zoroark and knocked it far away into the woods, likely knocking it out due to the additional damage from the Solar Beams. However, due to how much energy I used, I was exhausted and collapsed to the ground. Already, summoning more than one Solar Beam at a time was tiring, but I summoned about 5, AND used a Solar Blade. I was on the verge of fainting, but I fought for my consciousness as Rizer and Nilly came out of the bushes.

"DADDY!" Nilly shouted, hugging me tightly. I patted her head with a small smile, trying to look like I was fine. "That was... intense," Rizer said, clearly impressed with my strength. "But you look exhausted."

"Heh heh..." I chuckled tiredly, trying to stay conscious. "Well, t-that's what happens w-when you use your s-strongest attacks f-first. At least it's g-gone now." She helped me up and leaned me against a tree. "You should rest for a bit," she said, trying to stay calm, but I could still sense a bit of shock and fear in her voice. "I... I'm f-fine," I said unconvincingly. "Uh huh, yeah. You look fine as you're stuttering and about to faint," she said sarcastically. I chuckled lightly. "Either way, we can't rest here. We wouldn't want it to come back... you couldn't fight it with psychic attacks, and Nilly is too young to fight it herself," I said. "Then let's go back. I can carry you, and we can go to the town another time," Rizer replied. I sighed. She was right. I couldn't move in my current condition, and it was too dangerous to just head to the town anyway. She lifted me up, and as the feeling of weightlessness came to me, so too did unconsciousness.
