I started by making a cardboard cut out and bulking it up with tin foil before covering the moon in air dry clay. This took 4 hours to make and 1 week to fully dry. Plus 3 days to repaire some cracks and breaks.
I then carved the patter and painted it along with 7 yellow stars. This took an additional 4 hours to paint because of how thin the metalics were. It took a lot of layers. (I'm limited on pictures okay)
I used glitter glue and metallic paint to make it super sparkly abd shine. This bitch glimmers in the sunlight!
I crochet an 80 in boarder of sparkly ruffled navy blue yarn. This took me damn near 2 weeks. My hands still hate me.
(I had just reached Skypiea in One piece at this point.)
I painted a canvas board then placed it in a frame before gluing down the moon and then I used wire to weave the moon into place with a more secure holding. Cause the moon weighted a good 3-4 pounds.
Then I crocheted additional decorations and turned each star into a flower. This took several days of work. (Finished Skipea and was in G8)
Finally, with the magic of hot glue and burnt fingers...
It was finished. My longest project:
Blooming Space
Total Time: 126 hours
Final score: 50/50 points, Art teacher said I had the most ambitious project and it wasn't at all what he was expecting.
(Someone legit turned in a drawing of sponge Bob that took them 10 minutes to draw 😭😭😭)
This wonderful piece now sits on my livingroom wall and the sunlight graces her everyday.
Artist goddess moment.
This project was finished May 26th, 2023.
