We all glanced at Zina whose head was bowed.

Dad stifled a laugh and mom snapped her eyes at him.

I waved for one of the maids to bring the other cooler custard.

After Zina had made her own I asked one of them to make custard in case her own turns out to be bad.

Guess I was right.

"Is this the type of custard she makes for you Seyi?."

I glanced at Zina again before fixing my gaze at mom.

This was the best times to make things right with Zina. I had started all this as a joke but this is her feelings I was playing with.

"Actually no. She might just have been nervous cooking for the whole family. Isn't that right Zina?."

She glanced at me. Her eyes filled with surprise.

"No it's not Seyi." She said softly.

"The truth is I don't know how to cook. Yes I lied and I regret it. I tried winning Mrs Oyefeso affection and I thought her thinking I could cook would get in her good books and I neglected the consequences of the lies I told. I'm sorry." She jerked back from her chair amd rose abruptly." If you please excuse me." She walked hastily away but I managed to notice her red eyes before she turned her face.

I felt a sharp pang of guilt.

"Are you happy with yourself son?." Mom started.

"I-"

"Why did you lie that she makes custard for you. It is obvious that isn't because you wanted her to be liked by me. It's her feelings that you hurt Seyi."

"That's right Seyi " I glanced at dad who was frowning.

"It's really said to see your fiancee cry. Go check on her." Dad said.

Why is he sounding angry. He was with me on this.

"I'm sorry I lied." I stood."I'll go check on her."

I got to the room and saw Zina crouched on the bed. Sobbing sounds coming from her.

I sat down beside her and drew her into my arm.

"I'm really sorry Zina. I should have thought about your feelings."

"It's not your fault Seyi " she croaked. " You were right I shouldn't have lied in the first place now your mom will never like me."

"Nonsense Zina. My mom obviously loves you. She scowled me because of you that says alot."

She glanced up at me. Her eyes watery. " Are you sure?." She asked.

"I'm sure Zina and I'm really sorry."

She planted her lips on mine. I could feel her salty tears before she drew back.

"It's okay Seyi. I love you."

I swallowed. " I love you too."

"Sweet kids."

We both glanced at the door to see my dad.

"Your food are getting cold." He said.

As we headed downstairs dad drew me back.

He was frowning." After breakfast we need to have a talk." His tone was serious.

Seyiiiiii why nau 😭😭. Why do you hurt our Zina but to be honest I didn't expect Zina to say the truth.

What is she cooking up in her head and for the tears... What was up with that. I mean, was it real or she was just using the emotional card. Go team Zina 😊❤️

Well we'll find out what is going on in Zina's head in the next chapter and what important thing Seyi's father had to talk about.
