Once we got to the locker rooms, I absently peeled off my jersey, then the pads before I went to stand under the shower. It was cold, but that was what I needed at the moment to bring me back to reality. To get my mind back.

This whole fake dating was never intended for anyone to catch feelings, yet here I was acting as though I had been pierced by one of cupid's arrows.

A knock on the door distracted me from my shower induced stupor.

"Hey Cap, you have a visitor"

Groaning, I grab at my towel, running it through my hair before wrapping it around my waist.

I step out to find the locker room empty.

Except for Alicia.

"Hi", she says.

I don't bother responding to her greeting. "What are you doing here, Alicia? This is the boys' locker room"

"The boys had no issue when I told them that I needed to speak to you in private", she says, her brown eyes widening. "I simply gave them each a hundred dollars, and they were happy to lend it to me"

I growl under my breath. Alicia is all about using money to get her way, and sometimes it gets on my nerves.

"So what is it?", I ask, mostly playing aloof but also anxious for her to leave.

"I was watching you play. You were great out there."

If not for the fact that I knew that I had in fact played horribly, I might have believed her for a microsecond. However, my disbelief at the statement is so evident that it must show on my face or something, because she immediately sidles closer to me, pressing her palms against my chest... my bare chest.

She gives me a sneaky smile, as if she knows how much my body has missed her touch, and I had to fight the urge to grab her, kiss her senseless, take her back.

"We're going for a party you know. You should come. We haven't been able to hang out in a while"

She pulls back with a smile, as though she knew the thoughts running through my head, and that cold calculated smile brought me back to my senses.

"I'm busy", I reply coldly, looking away.

"Busy with who? Kayla? You know she can't compare to me"

"You're right. She can't compare to you. she's way above your level."

And with that I push her (gently of course) out of the room and lock the door behind her, then collapse against the wall, my breaths coming in loud heavy pants.

Eventually, I am calm enough to get myself back together. I stand up and put a shirt over my head, then take a deep breath and unlock the door. Luckily, Alicia isn't on the other side. She never could stand rejection anyway.

Why am I rejecting her though? Isn't this what I want, for her to want me back? The voice in my head tries to convince me that I am doing this to test if Alicia really wants me back and I am playing hard to get, but I don't believe it, no matter how much I try to convince myself.

I make my way to the parking lot, but just as I am about to enter my care, I see a flash of red hair, and run towards it, hoping and praying that it is Steph.

I am in luck.

Steph is deep in conversation with Quinn who is standing beside a dark blue car. so deep in conversation that they don't see me until I am right in front of them.

"Dude", Steph

shrieks when she finally turns around and spots me. "You cannot sneak up on someone like that."

"Well I've been standing here for a while, and you were too busy to see me." I look around, but Kayla is nowhere in sight.

"Have any of you seen Kayla?"

"Who, your fake girlfriend?", Quinn smirks.

I glare at Steph who shrugs innocently. "Quinn is officially part of the girl group, and girl groups don't keep secrets."

"Yeah", Quinn says, and she and Steph fist bump. I roll my eyes. Why does Kayla have such annoying friends?

"So where is Kayla?", I ask to get them back on track.

"She left about twenty minutes ago. Probably at home right now", Quinn says.

"Can't believe she says she wasn't going to come to the party. Something must be wrong with her"

I blush at this, knowing exactly what is wrong with her.

"Look, can I have her number or something? I'm worried about her"

"Oooh someone is catching feelings", Steph coos

"He's totally red", Quinn laughs. "This is so romantic"

"I'm red because you guys are embarrassing me"

"Yeah right", Steph rolls her eyes as she tears out a page from her notebook and starts scribbling. She thrusts the paper out at me, then she and Quinn get in the car.

"Make it count rulebook", Quinn grins as they drive off.

I unfold the piece of paper.

On it is not Kayla's number, but her house address.
