Nice way to go Seyi. I thought wryly.
"But." He flashed me a bright smile.
What was he planning.
"But. I'll love for you to prepare for me tomorrow custard just the way you prepare it. Can you sweetheart ?."
"Why do you want custard tomorrow?." His mom asked.
"Just felt like." He shrugged." So will you darling?."
"Of course. Anything for you." My eyes threw daggers at him.
"Since your making custard for him, you might as well add my own."
I flashed a surprise glance at his dad.
"Alex! You want custard?" Mrs Oyefeso sounded surprised.
At least is not only me that is shocked then.
"I just wanted to taste custard again. I'm beginning to crave for custard and beans cake"
Beans cake is akara.
" Your craving beans cake?"
"Yes honey. How about Zina makes custard for us all. That can't be that hard right?." He glanced at me.
Was this man against me or what.
"No it's fine. I can make it."
I'll just tell one of the maids to help me.
He thinks he can disgrace me all because of that his company.
He'll just have to wait and see how I'll shock him.
Osas p.o.v
"Where are we ?"
I had picked Boma from school.
" The orphanage."
We got down from the car.
"Osas" Nonso called.
"Yeah." Ever since in the afternoon, Nonso had looked like something was bothering him.
"I have somewhere important to go to. Do you mind if I can borrow the car. I'll be back to pick you."
"Of course."
He let a warm smile. " Thanks."
"As long as you come back having a brighter smile than this."
"Sure."
"Good afternoon Miss Osas." One of the workers greeted as we entered.
"Miss Osas!" Some of the children chirped excitedly.
I felt Boma grip tighten as I held him.
I looked down to him. He looked scared.
I carried him. " Are you scared?."
He nodded.
"There are my friends Boma. They have no mother or father."
His eyes widened a fracture." No mummy?".
"Yes. No mummy."
"That's not fair." He whispered.
"It's not that's why I'm their friends."
He glanced at the kids now surrounding me.
"I want to be their friends too."
I smiled." Okay." I dropped him down.
"I'm Boma." He introduced.
"Hi Boma." The kids all said excitedly.
I glanced round the room. No Dennis no Eunice.
"Where's Dennis?." I asked one of the workers.
"His in the garden."
"With Eunice ?."
She nodded. A smile appearing on her face." Dennis and Eunice are so close. There are practically inseparable. Wherever Dennis is, she's there."
I smiled. That's nice of Dennis.
"I'll go see Mrs Diepreye now."
"Okay. She's in her office."
I turned to Boma. He was already playing with the younger kids while the older ones were playing boards and card games.
" Please watch over Boma as I go see her."
" Alright."
I knocked the door slightly before entering.
Mrs Diepreye glanced up from the papers in her hand. A tired smile reaching her lips.
" How are you doing dear?"
"I'm fine." I sat down opposite her. The table separating us." How are you and the orphanage faring ?"
She sighed tiredly." The construction workers are on our neck but apart from that everything has been okay. Mr Seyi donated a large sum of money to the orphanage that we could buy new clothes, equipments and foodstuffs."
Seyi donated money?.
Does that mean that Seyi is no more supplying a building?
"And the nice thing about him is that he's still providing a building for us.".
"Isn't he being too nice?" I wondered.
"He said he wanted to prove to someone that It's not all about competition but he actually cares for the orphanage and doing his friend a favour."
Was he referring to me ?. Of course it had to be me who else was competing for a building with him.
"When did he do this ?."
"Two days ago. He had transferred the money to the orphanage account around midnight."
Two days ago?. Midnight?.
Two days ago I was in the hospital and he was with me around midnight. Had he transferred it when I was asleep?.
It looked like he was making a lot of effort to do this person -
The person was my Dad!. There must have met and my dad knew-
"Did you discuss the building issue with my dad before you told me ?."
"Yes. He seemed worried but I told him the good news about Mr Seyi providing a new building for us."
I have no doubt that dad must have told Seyi about this. But why did dad tell Seyi. Seyi was a perfect stranger to my dad.
If Seyi is so determined to do this favour to my dad I won't fight him about it. If he wants to provide a building for the orphanage that was fine by me. Like he said' it's not all about competition' but still...
"How is Dennis. Is he still causing trouble?."
"Surprisingly no he hasn't. I think his trying to make a good impression on the Eunice girl. They act like siblings most if the time."
"I'll check on him." I rose.
"Greet your dad for me."
"Sure."
I took Boma with me to see Dennis. It's good for favourite kids in the world to meet.
