“Of course,” answered Eena. “Why else do you think I go to missions in Europe often?”
“…The hot guys?”
“That’s just part of the package, sweetie.”
Reini grinned and went towards the direction of the bar where a bartender dressed in black slacks and a black long-sleeved button-up shirt was serving drinks. Reini hopped a little to sit down on one of the fancy black stools, raising her finger up.
“One Temptation Cocktail, please,” said Reini.
“One Shirley Temple,” requested Eena.
Reini walked towards the round wooden table, sitting beside Eena as they looked at the image on the screen.
“Hey,” said Reini, smiling at Charles.
Charles waved through the webcam, grinning. “I am so glad that you’re okay. I didn’t think the toxin would actually work.”
“Everybody was afraid,” said Reini, nodding slowly.
“How’s the house?” asked Charles.
Eena grinned. “It’s great. I’m glad Amrie decided to put us into an actual livable house instead of one of those safe houses the CIA has.”
“You won’t be able to relax there for very long,” said Charles, arranging the laptop as needed so that they would be able to see Amrie too. “You have a mission.”
“Finally,” moaned Eena. “I thought we were going to die of boredom over here.”
Amrie grinned. “Missing the spy life, aren’t you?”
Eena smiled. “You don’t even know.”
Amrie quickly became serious, looking at Reini and Eena as agents and not as friends. “You have a mission, as Charles said.”
Suddenly, their image was replaced by another image on the screen of Eena’s standard CIA-issued laptop. The image was of a man in his forties with a moustache and thinning black hair, wearing a suit and gold-rimmed reading glasses.
“His name is Gilbert Baxendale. He’s, to put it in simple terms, stinking rich to the point where it’s almost ridiculous, and he was an agent of The Alliance.”
“Was?” asked Eena, her eyebrow raised.
“Yes,” replied Amrie. “He had somehow managed to be free from The Alliance without any damage whatsoever.”
“Let me guess,” said Reini, looking at the screen, “that’s what we’re going to find out.”
“Yes,” said Amrie. “Your job is to find out how he had managed to be free from The Alliance and to find his collection of information regarding The Alliance. There’s a ball in his mansion about three days from now. Prepare accordingly.”
The image on the screen faded, showing them Charles who was currently rifling through his bag. “I’m going to show you what you’re going to need.”
Eena nodded.
“Here,” he said, showing them what looked like a foundation compact and turning it so they can view it from every possible angle, “is a normal foundation, nothing weird for a woman to have in her purse.” He opened the compact. “It actually has real powder so you can use it and a mirror too, but really, once you activate the small button under it, it produces smoke so you can see laser beams and manage to get through them.”
