"Derek's friend?".

"Yeah. How is Derek by the way?." I diverted the topic.

"Not so fast Osas." She says," why was he with you all through the night?. You told me he was engaged right?."

I shrugged." He decided he wanted to stay."

"Decided to stay ?".

"Yep."

She looked at me suspiciously." Are you guys friends or something or does he like you?".

"What, him like me ! Not at all. He was just being.. friendly."

"Do you like him?".

"I don't. His engaged remember."

"Just don't go falling for a guy who will hurt you in the end, Osas."

"You don't have to tell me that. Anyway what about our man " I wriggled my  brows at her.

"Which our man?" She laughed.

"Derek Na !."

"That guy has just been disturbing my phone since I gave him my number."

"So why not answer him."

"Just answer him?. I'm sure his like the rest of these men nowadays. All they want is sex nothing else."

"Someone that is disturbing you like this. How you sure sex is all he wants."

She gave me a  suspicious look." Why are all of a sudden defending him."

I chuckled." You've been single since like forever. Someone is finally showing genuine interest in you."

"Genuine?. Does he even know I have a child. I'm sure by the time he knows he will even delete my contact."

I really wanted to laugh. If only she knew the truth.

"Then tell him. Tell him you have a child so he won't disturb you again."

"Fine. I'll tell him. In the end he will finally leave me."

I stared at my phone.

I should call her. I had told Dr Marx to tell her that I would call but yet-

I didn't feel like calling her.

When Zina had suggested no interaction with Osas on our trip to Abuja, I willingly accepted it.

It was better and safer for both of us if I keep my distance.

And also help me to understand my feelings for Osas.

Was is it because I take her as a friend?.

I shook my head. I don't see Osas as just a friend and that was the problem.

Dr Marx had said Michael was the right person for Osas and Osas had said she was in love with him.

I should not try and be having feelings for another person when I'm presently engaged.

But last night something changed between us. Something we both feared.

Distance was the only plausible way. With distance no one gets hurt.

I called Gerald.

"Hello.."

"Have you gotten any news concerning the fraud?"

"Yes. It was connected to Mr Soolape"
