Mel.

It was not the most ideal start I had in mind for my new home, I washed my hands and flashed back to the time my late husband Mark and I moved in together.

"Hey, Mark, do you know which box the towels are in?" I said

I picked up practically the first thing I could just to simply dry my hands, he came up from behind me put his arms around me, and embraced me.

"But I found a set of sheets," he said kissing my neck

He peaked at the shirt I was holding in my hand to dry my hands with.

"What are you doing with this?" he asked taking the shirt out of my hands.

"I'm drying my hands," I replied

"Uh-uh. This is personally autographed by Bob Seger and the entire Silver Bullet band. Handed down to me by my father, who was at Cobo Hall in Detroit on the night of the live recording of their very first album. Now, one beautiful day in the not-too-distant future, I'm gonna hand this to our son, Mark Junior. And he to his son, Mark Junior Junior. And so on and so forth." He said

"What if we have a girl?" I asked

"What if we have a girl?" he whispered repeatedly

He kissed me and then lifted me into his arms as I was brought back to reality.

I put the very same shirt on as pajamas and rugged myself up for the evening, eventually, I lay down on the sofa teary-eyed and slowly drifted off to sleep.

The next morning.

The morning was cool and foggy yet sunny at the same time I woke to the sound of ducks quacking as I got off the couch and decided to take a walk outside.

I walked out the back door and took a deep breath, I turned to find a box left on the chair with a thermos mug some bread, and a note.

Hang in there

- Jack

I smiled at the note folded it back up and took in the fantastic view of the lake I walked back inside when suddenly a wooden panel broke.

"Oh! Come on! Ugh, I hate this place." I said frustrated. And walked back in.

Jack.

It was the following day and already Mel had seemed to consume almost all my thoughts.

I walked downstairs into the kitchen where I found preacher preparing vegetables.

"It's too early for lectures." I groaned

"Hey, I didn't say a thing." Preacher confirmed

"Yeah, you didn't have to," I said as I grabbed a water bottle out of the refrigerator.

"So? The pretty lady make it home last night?" Preacher asked

"She had a ring on," I said Taking a sip of water

"Yeah, I wasn't sure you noticed," Preacher said

"I did," I said walking out to serve some customers.

Preacher.

I was sorting out some glasses when I saw the new nurse pop in

"Hey." She said
