"I don't think she's capable." I said.

"Oh but she did stab herself." He said softly.

I looked at him with awe.

"Why did she stab herself ?"

"Because I'm a bad father, Seyi. "

He had lost me there.

"Osas is adopted Seyi. I adopted her and I'm the reason why she's here."

That explained the lack of resemblance.

"What happened to her parents?".

"Dead. You see that's why she's attached to orphanages cause she knows the feeling of not having parents again."

I felt a wave of pity for her. "But I'm sure you and Ola treated her as family."

"That's where the mistake comes in. I only treated her as family."

"Ola?".

"I really don't know how to face Osas when she wakes up. When she finds out that my heart is failing."

"You have a heart condition?".

I noticed he didn't answer my earlier question.

"Yes. That's one of the reason she's like this."

"So you know what happened to her?".

"Oh, I do but it's not my place to tell you."

"I don't get sir?".

He rose. " If two people are meant to be together fate will surely bring them to be together no matter the circumstances."

What is he talking about?

"I'll leave you be with her." He said and left.

I sat on the bed, my hands still with hers.

I did not want to leave her hand. I was afraid if I do so, I would loose her.

You must have gone through a lot loosing your parents Osas but I can assure you that your new family loves you.

The look of fear and worry on Dr Marx face, the tears in Ola's eyes... You met a good family Osas but why try and stab yourself?.

What burden are  you carrying?. I can help you Osas. Let me ease you burden for you .

My hands trailed on her scar.

This must be the reason why she always wore cloth that shielded her neck.

But still as she laid on the bed , I could still feel my hear beat fast. She looked beautiful.

This is the closest I have been near her and probably will ever be.

A knock on the door and  both Rasaq and Michael entered.

A look of surprise on Rasaq face and a look of jealousy and envy on Michael's face but to my own surprise I didn't leave her hands infact I held it a bit firmer.

Almost immediately, Michael left the room while Rasaq sat down on the chair.

"It's my fault this happened." He sighed.

"What really happened to Osas?. Did she stab herself?".

"Yes." He started." I should have stopped Ola when I had the chance.".

"Ola did this ?".

"We all have a hand in this." He said.
