My eyes slowly opened and I sat up groggily. It was bright daylight and I was about to check the time when I realised that the clock wasn't on my wall. In fact, my walls weren't even there and it finally clicked that I was outside. Looking around in confusion, I realised that I was sitting outside some kind of mental asylum. Some guy dressed in a cloak started to walk towards me and I scrambled to my feet, seeing that he had glowing red eyes.
"Ah, Christopher, we meet at last." I cocked my head to the side.
"Excuse me?"
"Oh, my apologies, how rude of me. I really should introduce myself. My name is Serpius." I just stared at him, contemplating whether to hear him out or run. But for some reason, my legs were glued to the ground.
"Serpius? What kind of a name is that?" I exclaimed suddenly, not sure what else to do. Stalling might just be the best option. Now it was his turn to look confused.
"You dare question my name?" He asked softly and I felt his power radiate from him. I'd better not push him.
"Nah, it's just kinda interesting, that's all. Sorry." He started to chuckle.
"Don't worry. Just a small slip of the tongue, that's all." My head started to throb suddenly and I realised that something was very wrong. Just in time, I lifted my hands as a powerful force threatened to knock me down. Serpius had his arms outstretched and his eyebrows were narrowed. I felt my own power radiating from me and I pushed it to the limit, trying to fight against his power.
"Christopher, you might as well just give up. You'll never beat me." I growled under my breath and pushed harder. But he was right. My body was becoming tired and I felt like I was going to faint at any moment. His force increased and he smiled at me, knowing that the end was near. I stared at his hands and used the last of my energy up to try something. Sure enough, he jumped back in surprise as a huge hole formed in the middle of his hand. My eyes suddenly went from green to red and I smiled with malice. His hand was slowly melting as he screamed with pain...
I woke with a start and rubbed my eyes. With a sigh of relief, I realised it was just a dream.
"Well, thank God, because I'm not a killer." I muttered to myself and jumped out of bed, nearly landing on one of my dogs.
"Sorry, buddy. I didn't see you there." I said to him, picking him up. My dog, X, always had this habit of standing right in places where I would either trip over him or places where I was just about to stand. But he never seemed to mind if I accidentally tripped over him. He was so chilled out. I placed him on my bed and went downstairs for breakfast.

"Okay, so Lydia might be coming here today. I texted her and she said maybe." I was sitting in the recording studio a few hours later, chatting to a couple of my friends. Red was very wary of me.
"That's cool, dude, but you're not gonna ram me into a wall again, are you?" He asked nervously. I rolled my eyes.
"Will you please let that go? I'm sorry, okay." I said softly and he shook his head.
"But how did you do it? I swear to God you didn't actually touch me." I hesitated, not sure how to respond. With a sigh, I realised I should probably tell them. They were my friends, after all.
"Okay, okay. I took this weird pill and I gained superpowers. Happy now?" I stared at them and for a second none of them moved. But then they burst out laughing and I rolled my eyes.
"I'm serious! This actually happened the other day." Red was wiping tears from his eyes and I knew none of them were listening to me. I went to the bathroom as I waited for them to calm down. As I stared at my reflection in the mirror, I realised that I'd have to show them. My eyes became the glowing green colour that I still wasn't accustomed to and I sighed, walking back out. Red was the first one to make eye contact with me and his laughter hitched in his throat as his eyes grew wide.
"Woah, man...your eyes! Those are some weird ass contacts." He said with a nervous chuckle. I shook my head and held my hands out, closing my eyes and concentrating. I heard a half hearted scream and I opened them. Red was about a foot in the air, desperately squirming to break free while the others just watched on, eyes wide. I snorted and he fell back to the ground.
"Now do you believe me?" I asked condescendingly and they all nodded. "But you can't tell Lydia. I don't want her thinking I'm really weird."
"You can't hide this forever, bro. Like, all it takes is a couple of paparazzi guys catching you levitating a glass of water or something, and your secret will be out. They'll probably do tests on you as well." Red said.
"Wow I'm loving the positive attitude." I said sarcastically, glaring at all of them. Red just shrugged and I looked to the side, spotting my car keys. My eyes momentarily flashed green and the keys flew to my outstretched hand.
"Where are you going?" Red asked and I shrugged.
"Just taking off for a bit. I need some fresh air anyway to clear my head. I only discovered this stuff about myself yesterday and I'm still trying to get to grips with it. Tell Lydia that I've gone home if she comes by." I said nonchalantly and walked out of the studio. Breathing in, I looked around. There weren't many people and I smiled, but it was short lived. A camera click from a distance reached my ears and my head snapped in the direction that it had come from. The photographer wasn't that far away, and I was tempted to levitate him so he squirmed in fear. After a moment of debating, I decided not to as he had a camera and he wasn't worth my time anyway. So I just kept walking to the car park.
Once I was home, I flopped on to the sofa and switched the TV on. My song was playing on the music channel and I watched myself dance on the screen. I thought about my power as I sat there and sighed. I realised that I wasn't sure whether I was happy or sad about it, because although I thought it was kind of cool, it could get me in heaps of trouble. Standing up, I knew I had to do something. Ever since the dream I'd had last night, I'd had this horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach. It felt like I was in danger. But what could I do? I looked down at my hands. I could use telekinesis and I could melt things with the power of my mind. But what if there were other powers hidden there? I needed to check them out.
"Yeah, let's test them out, shall we?" I said to myself and cracked my knuckles. This was going to be fun.
