I knew Derek was just teasing me but yet.. what will I say?.

The truth.

"Some may find him eyes catching him but that's not what I mean. Zina isn-"

"But you don't find him eyes catching?" Derek cut in.

"Leave her be Derek. What were you saying?". Seyi said and I felt grateful to him.

"Zina would obviously be worried or disturbed to know someone is flirting with you considering my first encounter with her but you said she just shrugged it off."

"So what are you saying then ?" Derek asked.

" I'm just guessing but do you think she has a part in it ?."

" I don't think Zina will think of doing this."

Of course you won't think that. She's your fiance.

" I think Osas has a point." Derek said and we both faced him. " Zina seems like  someone capable of doing something like this."

"You haven't met her." Seyi said defensively." And why would she do that?"

Derek rose his hands in surrender." Jeez Seyi, I'm just saying from what you have told me about her."

"Let's just forget I said anything about this." He said.

Some thing seemed off from him.

"Okay... Since we've talked about both you guys love life it's remaining mine." Derek said with a bright smile.

"So your really interested in Ruth?" Seyi asked.

"Yeah."

"Despite her having a child? ." I sked.

" is that meant to discourage me?".

"No but most men leave when they hear that she has a child." I explained.

"Well I'm not most men. I'm really interested in her and I want her to know that." Despite Derek always being the teasing and unserious  one he sounded serious.

His phone tinged. " I'll have to leave now." He rose. " We'll continue this topic another day, Osas. Thanks for the snacks." He shook hands with Seyi,"we'll talk later too." Something flashed in both their eyes.

When he left I called one if my chef and told him to give Derek some snacks before he leaves.

When the chef left, silence brewed between us.

"I've been thinking." Seyi started." About what you said about Zina. You might be right but i want to give her the reason for a doubt"

I remained silent.

"But why would she do something like this?". His eyes furrowed in confusion.

"She loves you. She loves you so she's just probably trying to assure herself that you won't cheat on her."

"We've been dating for three years. Why now?."

I shrugged." I don't know."

"Would you ever do this?"

I blinked." Sorry ?".

"If you and Michael dated for three years will you do this?"

"Firstly, I can't date a man for three years but if I'm too I see no point in doing this. I'll just end it if I have any doubt".

"Do you really love Michael?." He asked softly.

"Yeah."

he smiled but wasn't wide." How does it feel to be in love?".

What's with this questions.

"Well -"

"Never mind." He interrupted. He stood." Thanks for meeting up. I'll call you when I return to Lagos amd thanks for the snacks."

"Your... Welcome." I said silently.

He started to turn away, then thought of something and turned back. "Your a really lucky and special person." His shoulders sagged as he left.

What had he meant by saying that?.

I had noticed something flash in his eyes earlier.
Hurt.

He must have been really hurt knowing that Zina may have tried to set him up with another woman and I felt anger surging through me.

Why would she do that?.

His eyes flashed again and I tried to deny the feelings I was having knowing that he was going through emotional pain.
