“Oh, pardon, but we never broke up, Officer Salvaleon.” I rolled my eyes and sipped on my coffee again.

(I just thought…) Arshid whispered and shook his head.

“Eei?” Devon.

“Ne eei?” (What eei?) I asked her, shaking my head.

“Why do you keep on asking?”

“Because I can’t go out with you anymore, Captain, unless you forget me already,” paghihimutok ni Devon kaya natawa ako. “My life is boring these past few days because I haven’t seen you and gone out with you. You spend your whole week with him,” dagdag ni Devon kaya nginisihan ko lang ito.

“Actually, may isang linggo pa siya—” Devon’s exhilarating reaction cut me off.

“Ne!? Neden?” (What!? Why?) Nagsalubong ang mga kilay ni Devon.

“What’s why? Of course it’s his vacation, Devon, and he wants to spend it with me.”

Devon rolled her eyes at me and pursed her lips.

“Uff yah!

I squinted my eyes at her.

“What’s the rush?” I raised my brows. Devon twisted her lips. “Where’s your crush? Are you out of boys now, Devon, kaya ako na naman ang kinukulit mo?” sunod-sunod na tanong ko at mas lalong pinanliitan ng mga mata si Devon.

“Aye, aye, Captain, I already eliminated my crush from my list—scratch it, ex-crush!” she highlighted the ‘ex’ in her words kaya napangisi ako.

“Evet! Meron! At applicable lang iyon sa akin.” She then rolled her eyes at me.

“At least he was one of those crushes of yours that lasted for almost a month.” Sabay kibit ko ng balikat.

Devon talks a lot about those days that I’m suspended. Arshed on the other hand, is silent, like he’s in deep thought. And I hated myself for wondering what should be in his mind right now, and how important is it for him to get carried away and steal his attention from us? Is he thinking about his ex-fianceé? Or might as well I call her his girlfriend? Kasi girlfriend pa naman yaya niya iyong Hexy.

I twisted my lips because of what I’m thinking.

He’s staring outside, but his eyes were not on the beautiful scenery in front, it’s far... it’s like he’s gone on his own thoughts.

I stared at him for a moment before I decided to clear my throat as I headed towards his seat. He’s just staring out the window.

I cleared my throat again and stood near his seat, tsaka lang ako napansin ni Arshed.

“Yes, Captain?

His eyes shifted on my seat before he looked up and stared at me again—nagtataka.

“Are you okay?” sinsero kong tanong. He’s always spacing out after  the talks we had earlier at the cafe.
