"You guys, this is Scarlett."
Everyone around the table murmered their hellos.
"Hi, sorry I freaked out earlier. I'm nervous, it being my first day and all," I said to their blank stares. There were four boys and two girls. They were all so annoyingly attractive. I hate when people look so perfect. I have a scar over my left eyebrow, a not very flat stomache (but I'm far from fat everywhere else), and I get zits (luckily I'm great with make up). These people looked like they wouldn't even know the definition of the word zits. I didn't feel too comfortable...
"Well, my name is Niall, It's okay," said a boy with incomparable blue eyes. I never fully trusted people with blue eyes though. I was always jealous of them. My eyes were just so brown. They never changed or anything, just brown. He smiled brightly up at me, then I realized I was still standing. I sat inbetween Harry and a pretty brunette girl. I also realized Niall's accent was different. He was probably Irish. I knew that from my dad's side of the family. Most of them lived in Ireland. I wonder why Niall is here.
"I'm Liam," said another supremely handsome boy from across the table. Speaking of brown eyes he had them, but his weren't boring at all. They were light and welcoming. I stared at him for such a long time.
Then the others introduced themselves. There was Zayn, Perry, Louis, Eleanor. They didn't say it, but I could tell they were couples. I'm good at telling that kind of thing. Zayn seemed so dark and wild and Louis bubbly and hyperactive. It was such a diverse bunch of personalities, I thought to myself.
"Well, it's really great to meet you all!" I said. I still felt like I could feel the awkwardness in the air. I looked around anxiously, waiting for someone to say anything.
"So, how do you like it here?" Niall asked me.
"I think I like it here so far. Althought getting around has been a challenge. This is the first time I've ever moved. I used to live in Pennsylvania. It was a pretty small town, but the people were friendly."
"Wow, I kind of expected an American to be over weight and have like a Southern accent or something," Louis said. I just laughed at this.
"We're not all like the steriotypes!" I just couldn't stop giggling. What a peculiar thing to say. "I guess I expected you all to drink tea & crumpets and be really pale. I guess we have more in common than I thought," I replied. The rest of lunch carried on like this. Everything seemed light. When we all stood up to leave, I realized how short Niall was. I had a good two maybe three inches on him. Huh. Funny. At least I knew some people now. Way better looking than me people, but still people. I went through the rest of my classes with little hassle. But during science Liam passed me a note asking if I wanted to come over and study. I passed a note back saying, "Liam, it's the first day of school, what could we possibly have to study?"
He wrote back, "Okay, so maybe that was a slight lie. Basically, do you want to come over?"
"Yes, I will see if I can. My parents are crazy overprotective, so lets just say you're name is Lianna. Haha." I wasn't joking, they would KILL me if they knew half the things I did, but even if they found out I would still do them. I had become quite the master at lying, sneaking out, etc. my mom was understanding about most things, but sex was a touchy subject. She would almost start crying every time the topic came up. I had my theories about why, but I kept that to myself. While my dad on the other hand, still didn't even know I had had my first kiss years ago. I kept him in the dark so that I could 1. Live 2. Go out 3. Still get stuff because I was so innocent and helpful. The innocence and hard-working crap was my ticket to freedom. So, lying about going over to a guy's house was nothing unusual for me.
He passed a note back to me, "I don't want to get you in trouble! Maybe this is a bad idea... "
I read the note and wrote back, "Don't worry about it, okay? This is nothing compared to other things I've lied about." Writing it down made it seem worse than it really was, but I just really wanted to go over to his house. Liam was so so attractive, and I felt pretty cool having plans with someone as hot as him after only my first day at this school! I had seen a lot of girls today that made me question my own looks, and going over to Liam's felt like a nice pick me up. I smiled back at him, and then I wondered how the hell I was going to get home after his house. I barely knew where my own house was. Meh, I'll live...besides, I lived living ins neighborhood now. Back in America we only had like four neighbors and they were all old and bitter. Now I lived in a quaint neighborhood and I liked the noise of the cars passing by at night. Maybe life here wouldn't be so bad after all! No one knew me and it was a chance to reinvent myself.
