I headed to the familiar office. I knocked slightly and entered.
"Morning doctor Marx."
The man looked up from his files and his once stressed face turned into a bright smile.
"I was wondering when you will come see your dad"
We hugged and I sat opposite him. " How was your trip?"
"It was fine." Staring at the man who took me in to be part of his family, I noticed his hair have been turning white and his face is becoming more wrinkled. He was looking a bit thin from when last I saw him and his eyes looked dull.
How can I ever repay you for everything.
"So what's bring you here. Normally you would have seen my at home but in the hospital means it's important."
"I've been hallucinating again and I can't sleep.its either I have nightmares or I can't sleep."
"Since you have permanently lost your memory, I can't say your recalling your memory. How about we do a brain scan and have you been taking your pills."
"I stopped taking the pills when I noticed I wasn't having any hallucinations but as it came back I took it but it became worse."
"I'll talk to Dr Williams and I'll fix a date for your scan but In the meantime..." He wrote something in a paper and handed it to me." Meet the pharmacy section to prescribe this drug for you."
"Thanks." I took the paper.
"How is Ola?"
"You haven't spoken to her ?"
He smiled at me. " She wants me to retire but-"
"Why does she want you to retire. You aren't old yet."
He still held his smile." Just greet her for me. Would you?".
"I will." And we talked about everything and anything.
"It's been nice seeing you Osas."
We were both standing. " I'll see you again next week."
"I would be expecting you."
I left the office not knowing that he still stood by the door his eyes not leaving me till I was out of sight.
I went to the pharmacy and they prescribed the drug for me that he had written down.
I greeted Stella again as I left the hospital. Next we headed to Eko hotel. That's where I was meeting with Mrs Ojo and her daughter.
"Good morning Ma."
Mrs Ojo was dressed in a long Ankara gown. For her old age she still looked beautiful with her dark glowing skin.... And the daughter I presume, was dressed in a simple English gown. She also looked exactly like her mother and also was beautiful.
"Your assistant told me she normally represents you for meetings so I guess this is inconvenient for you." Mrs Ojo said as we both sat down.
"Not at all Ma."
"Well I have somewhere to go now, I just wanted to see the lady's face that will be handling my daughter's wedding so I'll leave you and my daughter to discuss the rest."
"I actually thought she won't leave." The daughter said as Mrs Ojo strolled away.
"You didn't want her here ?"
She smiled at me." Mother's can be alot when it comes to events like this."
I didn't say anything to that after all, I could not remember who my parents were.
"I didn't get your name." I said.
"Oh, I'm Salewa"
"Okay Salewa, let's get down to business." I said as I brought out my jotting pad.
"I'm getting married to a Canadian man, our marriage is in a months time, May 27th."
"A months time?" That means for me to prepare everything I would be busy from now till then cause time was not on my side.
"Yeah. He kind of proposed and we just fixed the date."
"So what's your budget?"
"Well I don't have a budget per say. Let's just get everything ready and any amount I'll pay."
"Hmm..." It would be wise to have a budget. ".. okay, so what type of wedding do you want, is it going to be in a church and-"
" I'll be having my traditional wedding first. A day before my white wedding." She cut me off.
You have to be kidding me. I thought.
"I hope is not stressful for you?" She asked.
I feigned a smile." I've organized a wedding a week before their date."
"Are you serious?"
" No I'm just joking but I've handled a wedding that's just a month away. What about the husband to be?"
"He will be coming back to Nigeria this weekend."
"Okay then. I have a lady who deals with Aso ebis and the rest. How about we fix a date to meet her and we can decide on the color and style."
She smiled." I would love that."
"And for the food. Do you want a mix candian dishes and Nigerian or only Nigerian?"
"Mixed please. His family and friends would be coming."
I jotted it down." And how many people are we expecting?"
"I can't really say, I haven't discussed that with my family and his"
We talked about other things to. Well there goes all my free time. I thought.
