"So they're like the first, right?" Amaryllis asked crossing as she hopped up on top of the desk, the alien now treating the situation like there was nothing spectacular going on.
"There go those questions again," Rose noted once again without glancing back at them, the woman rather going through the books in front of her almost absentmindedly.
"How'd you know that?" Elena asked as she turned towards Amaryllis, the human confused about how the smaller girl could know more than her right now.
"Original means firsts dumbass," Amaryllis almost immediately scoffed as she leaned back against the old dirty books, she always knew Elena was a few colors short of a crayon box. "read in between the lines."
Almost immediately as the curse word left Amaryllis's mouth, Elena rolled her eyes and let out a small scoff, the human turning away, refusing to listen to the rest of Amaryllis's words.
"Have the Salvatores not been teaching you, your vampire history?" Rose asked, this time still not glancing back, she'd expected the other vampires to fill in their human pet about their pasts.
"So you know Stefan and Damon?" Elena asked, partially shocked as she hadn't expected Rose to have known them, but hearing that she did quickly caused suspicion to come over her.
"I know of them," Rose clarified, simply already understanding the doppelgänger's tone, a small smile coming over her face as she thought of the past. "a hundred years back, a friend of mine tried to set me up with Stefan."
As she mentioned it, Rose let out a small chuckle at how full circle the world could become, even more so she was happy as she thought of one of the few good memories she had over the years.
"She said he was one of the good ones," She continued to depict the past as the other two women listened, neither of them making a sound as they heard the story. "I'm more of a sucker for the bad boys, though, but I digress."
"So who are the rest of The Originals?" Amaryllis asked after hearing of the woman's past, however, her curiosity was burning to know of the original vampires.
Although with her being a supernatural creature, although not a earthly one, Amaryllis hadn't met many vampires only having the journal her mom had left for her before she left. It taught Amaryllis just about the basics of most supernatural creatures, so having a chance to hear even more she didn't want to lose the opportunity.
However, at her question, Rose's reading slowly came to a stop the woman letting out a small sigh of sadness and regret before she turned around towards both of the young women.
"Trevor and I have been running from them for over five hundred years," She started to complain as she faced both of them, obvious sadness in her voice as she depicted her life. "we're tired, we want it over, and we're using you to negotiate ourselves out of an old mess."
"And I'm the peace offering," Amaryllis almost immediately spoke up as Rose stopped, once again she felt her presence wasn't needed, they could just let her go so she muttered: "I should've stayed home the day of the masquerade."
"But why me?" Elena continued to ask in the same whining tone she always used, causing Amaryllis to almost immediately cringe and roll her eyes.
Just Elena's voice was enough to annoy her off most days.
"Because you're a Petrova Doppelgänger," Rose answered in the same honest tone as before, she knew the girls wouldn't stop asking so she might as well answer them. "you're the key to breaking the curse."
"A curse," Amaryllis spoke up, having not heard of any type of curse, or rather she didn't remember any curse as she squinted her eyes and looked in the air. "what kind of Scooby-Doo bullshit-"
"You mean the sun and moon curse?" Elena cut off Amaryllis's confused mutterings, mainly because she hadn't heard her from how far away from each other the two were.
"Oh, so you do know your history," Rose spoke with a small roll of her eyes, finally the little human knew something about their words other than the basics. "it's the curse that keeps vampires out of the sun and forces werewolves to change under the moon."
The second half of Rose's words were aimed at Amaryllis, who previously had no clue as to what the two of them were talking about.
However, as she heard the vampire's explanation she needed her head, she knew that vampires were bound to the sun and werewolves were bound to the moon.
"What do you mean I'm the key," Elena asked another question taking a few steps forwards, Rose's answers only partially confused her more. "the moonstone is what breaks the curse?"
"No, the moonstone is what binds the curse," Rose clarified with a small roll of her head, it seems that a crucial part of the sacrifice hadn't been explained to her yet. "the sacrifice is what breaks it."
"The sacrifice?" Elena asked in complete shock at what she was hearing, no one had told her of a sacrifice, especially since she was going to be the victim.
"The blood of the doppelgänger," Rose continued to clarify with a smirk on her face, the woman just watching as the color drained from Elena's face. "you're the doppelgänger, which means, to break the curse-"
"you're the one that has to be killed." Amaryllis spoke up from the back of the room, a look of both shock and amusement on her face.
After all the narcissism and self-victimization Elena had been accustomed to she was going to be finally the center of all attention because her life was the key to breaking the curse.
She was going to die.
