On August 1982, the ship was opened at Pier 86 on the Hudson River in New York City as the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. Four years late, in 1986, U.S.S. Intrepid (CV-11) is officially declared as a National Historic Landmark.
Over the years Intrepid hosted many events including wrestling, press conferences, and parties, and served as the FBI operations center after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
As her historical connections with NASA and space science, there are plans for the Space Shuttle Enterprise being the centerpiece, being placed on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier. The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum gains ownership of the space shuttle on December 12, 2011. The space shuttle was planned on June 2012, but it was cancelled due to further renovations.
Just as luck would have it, it was a good thing that the Space Shuttle didn't yet landed on her flight deck. This is because she will be recommissioned for the Battle of RIMPAC 2012 where she fought alongside her sisters and comrades against the Alien Armada Fleet from a distant planet. After the battle, the aircraft carrer return for extensive repairs, in 2015, the space shuttle finally transferred to the museum ship.
Unfortunately, she sunk on Bikini Atoll on July 7, 2054 along with the rest of the warships that are museum ships. Operation CrossXs was the end for the World War 2 Pacific Naval Fleet that fought against a more advanced alien fleet back in 2012.
