I don't know how long I was hanging upside down before I realized I had been crying with tears streaming up my face. Then every thing started to sink in. Sam hand been working for my mother. The whole time. When we were in the meadow, at the dance, in the garden. It was all just an act.
I closed my eyes and let out a long scream of frustration. When I was done I opened my eyes to see a little girl. She had fiery red hair, pale skin, and two different colored eyes, one green and one blue. She stared at me and I stared at her. Then she looked up at my foot and seemed to realize I was stuck. "Could you help me get down?" I asked the girl who scowled at me.
I thought she was going to leave me there but eventually she nodded and pulled out a knife. She walked over to where the trap had been set up and looked to me. I nodded telling her to cut the rope and she did. Some how I managed not to hurt myself or look completely stupid when I fell.
I started untangling my foot from the rope when I noticed the girl staring at me. Well, she was staring at a ring I was wearing but it's the same thing. "Do you like it?" I asked her holding up my hand with the ring. She jumped a bit and nodded, looking shy suddenly. I thought about it a minute then slid the ring off of my finger. "Here, take it. For helping me." I handed her the ring and she smiled slightly.
"You should probably get home. I'm sure someone's worried about you." The girl nodded and took off into the woods. I was alone again.
I sat there for a while longer before I decided I should set up a camp. By the time I was done it was dark so I just sat by the fire thinking. I needed to find my mother and stop her before she hurt any one else, and I had to make her take the curse off of Mary. The only problem was I didn't have a way to find her and I had no idea how to stop her. I let out a sigh and buried my head in my hands. Then I saw the whistle my 'grandmother' had given to me. She had told me to blow it if I ever needed help. I shrugged, it wouldn't hurt to try. And so I blew it.
No sound came out. I literally face palmed, hard. I tried it again, still nothing. So I kept trying and eventually gave up when nothing happened and I was out of breath. That was so stupid and completely pointless, all I did was waist my time and air. I groaned to myself. Oh Riley, you didn't think it would be that easy did you? Just blow the whistle and have Terra poof in and fix every thing? No, you were just hoping some thing would happen, any thing.
There was a rustling in the bushes to my right but I ignored it, lost in my own thoughts. I could have sworn I heard whispering so I looked around but didn't see any thing. I was starting to relax again when some thing red tackled me. My immediate reaction was to go for my knife but then I noticed that the red thing was hair and it was attached to a little girl who was now sitting in my lap. It was the same girl from earlier. "Didn't I tell you to go home? I'm sure your family is worried about you." She just smiled at me and picked up the whistle which was still around my neck. She took a deep breath and blew as hard as she could.
To my suprise a boy came tumbling out of the bushes clutching his head. He got up and glared at the girl. "Momo!" He yelled and the little girl giggled. "Bad girl." He scolded her but she kept on smiling.
The boy was tall with black hair and bright blue eyes but what was really unusual was...... he had a... tail? And..... ears? What?! "Um." I heard myself saying and the boy turned to me with a hateful glare, completely different from the playful one he had given the girl... Momo. "What?!" He snapped. "You have a tail." I stated and blushed the second it was out of my mouth. What a stupid thing to say. He stared at me a moment before smirking to himself. "Well you're a bright one." He said sarcastically and then I was the one glaring.
Of all the people that could have come tumbling out of the bush, why did it have to be him?
