Crash!
The young teen screeched in panic as the spacecraft she entered the foreign planet's atmosphere with, was face-first smushed into the ground with a sickening crunch. It was a downright miracle that she was even still breathing. Even though these ships were made to withstand heavy impacts, the driver wasn't exactly... experienced.
Cilia felt her eyes well with hot tears, already beginning to feel them stream down her cheeks. "I'm sorry dad..." she whispered, knowing that he was hundreds of light years away, unable to console her, "I'm so so so sorry-". The young Dystran gave into the feeling of being so completely overwhelmed, and began crying hysterically. She was on a foreign planet. Alone. And from what her father told her, this planet was not safe in the slightest.
Cilia eventually exhausted herself from all her crying and tried comforting herself by pulling her knees onto the plush crimson seat, that was surprisingly still intact, and hugging her arms around them. As one would expect, drowsiness began to set into the girl and she fell into sleep, where her dreams offered her no comfort towards her current predicaments.
...
"Please dad, it's bring your child to work day!", Cilia pleaded with her stubborn father, "Everyone else's children will be there!", she whined, trying to convince her father to let her come with him.
"I thought you were too old to be referred to as a 'child'", Jake teased, although he was troubled by his daughter's relentlessness to come with him to his work.
"Daaaddddd", Cilia groaned in response to Jake's disappointing, but expected response. "I swear I'll be good, I promise not to touch anything." Cilia implored.
"Ahh, I see", Jake said, sounding mockingly triumphant, "you just want to miss school".
"What? No, of course not!", Cilia shifted in her seat a bit, "You know that I have always wanted to see the station!" she argued, a bit confused. Although Cilia didn't want to admit it, she did hate missing school... not that it was exciting and she loved hearing her teachers ramble on and on about the various courses that she was enrolled in, she just hated making up the schoolwork she would miss while she was gone... and the occasional humorous conversation that would occur. Though it was strange how adamant her father was about her not going to the station. He knew that she had always wanted to go, and every year on 'bring your kid to work day' she had vigorously begged him to go, but to no avail.
Jake could see his girl's face cast down towards her breakfast, twisted in a sad expression. "Honey, you know that the station is dangerous... I just want to protect you from getting hurt". he said firmly, but at the same time gently.
"I know dad, I just though that maybe I would be old enough this year", Cilia said, disappointment ringing clear in her voice, "maybe next year...", she said wistfully, looking up from her pancakes to give a small smile to her father.
Jake was conflicted. When would he let his daughter see the job that intrigued her more than anything in the world. Next year? The year after that? Ten years? "Alright, fine, you win", Jake hung his hands in the air in mock surrender. "You can come with me."
"Really!?", Cilia asked/shouted, but why the sudden change of heart? Oh, who cared she was finally going to be able to see the space station!
