"Madam, see as you fine today," he said, loading my bags into the trunk.

"Nonso, I still look the same as yesterday o."

He gave me a knowing look before sliding into the driver's seat. I sat at the back.

"Are we heading home?" he asked as he started the car.

"Uhmm... No. I'm going to Silver's Dream."

"Aha! Are we having a date this morning?"

I chuckled. "Well, my only date is Michael. I'm meeting Ruth."

"Why is your only date oga Michael?" he teased, glancing at me through the rearview mirror.

"Because he asked me to be his girlfriend."

"That's nice," he said, but there was something in his tone—disapproval, maybe?

He had always been cautious about my relationships, especially after Ebuka.

"He's not like Ebuka," I reassured him.

"I know... Just be careful with him."

"Yes, Oga," I teased, noticing how his lips curled into a small smile.

"Uhm... Nonso, I'll stop by the restaurant before heading there."

"Okay, ma."

I owned my own restaurant, though I wasn't one of the cooks. I had hosted a cooking contest and selected the best chefs to work there. I only cooked on special occasions.

"Madam, tell me about your trip to Manchester."

"Well, nothing special. I just cooked for a couple getting married."

"But if you see the way they ate the food, eh!" I continued, laughing.

Nonso joined in. "Madam, your food is always sweet."

When we arrived at the restaurant, Nonso offered to drop my bags at home before coming back to pick me up, but I insisted he come inside.

"Ahh, madam, if I enter, food go finish!"

I smirked. "I was planning on making a special dish for my favorite employee, though."

His eyes widened. "Ehh! Special dish?"

"Yes, but since you don't want to—"

"Forget that, madam! Anywhere you go, I go!"

He locked the car, following me inside. Just as I was about to enter, a car passed by, and for a brief moment, I caught a glimpse of the person inside. Something about the face behind those dark shades seemed familiar, but before I could process it, the car was gone.

Maybe just a regular customer.

Seyi's POV

It was her.

I knew that face well because I hadn't been able to get it out of my mind since yesterday. But one question burned in my mind—

Who was that guy?

From the Uber, I watched her laughing with a man. A different man from the one at the airport. Had he taken her to this restaurant? Were they on a date? It seemed too early for that. Still, she looked happy with him.

Was he her boyfriend?

A sickening feeling settled in my chest.

"Oga, na your wife be that?" the Uber driver asked.

"No. Let's go," I muttered, not wanting to see more.

As the car drove past, she glanced at me, and for a split second, our eyes met. Then I was gone.
