"Quite beautiful, isn't it?"
The Headmistress herself is a stringy woman, tall - even from her seated position at the desk - and with an angular bone structure that looks all the more daunting beneath the overhead lighting in the room. Her dark hair is pulled into a tight bun, and she wears a formal blazer over her maroon-hued chiffon blouse.
Sujin shrugs in stubborn indifference, "Guess so."
"Not much of a talker?" The Headmistress chuckles lowly, "Alright, then. Come - have a seat." She gestures to one of the chairs in front of her desk, which the girl cautiously slides into after a moment of hesitation.
The older woman busies herself with something on her computer, eyes glued to the monitor as her fingers click away at the keyboard. She scans the screen for a brief moment, expression entirely unreadable.
"Ah, I see. You're Sujin, aren't you?" She inquires, a strange curiosity in her tone, "Han Sujin?"
"Yup." Sujin replies flatly.
"Headmistress Jeong," She introduces herself, nodding referentially at the plaque on her desk that bears the same name, "It's a pleasure to finally meet you."
Sujin's brow quirks, "Finally?"
"I've heard a lot about you, Miss Han." Headmistress Jeong confirms, "From your mother."
Sujin resists the urge to roll her eyes. Of course she has.
"I must admit, it's unusual for our school to accept entrants in the final semester... but she's informed me of your situation and - well, some cases speak for themselves, wouldn't you agree?"
Was that a jab? Sujin thinks defensively. She frowns and says, "Excuse me?"
"You have a long history of disobedience." Headmistress Jeong states matter-of-factly, "Only having scanned your record so far -" Something shifts in her eyes upon reading the bolded 'SUSPENSION' listed in the document on her screen "- It seems as though you go against each and every single one of the core values this school is founded on."
This time, Sujin can't quite keep her eyeroll to herself. Core values my ass.
"With all of that being said, I have no doubt that Darisan will be just what you need to get your life back in order." The woman clasps her hands together decidedly, "You're not the first of the delinquent type we've accepted, you know. Quite the opposite - this school has been transforming the lives of problem students for decades." Her chest puffs up a bit at the final sentence in unabashed pride.
Oh, now Sujin gets what's going on. The Headmistress' little speech - and the entire existence of this school, she's convinced - all boils down to a narcissist's self righteous agenda masked in faux-kindness and passive aggression.
Please, she internally scoffs, save the savior-complex shit for my mother.
The girl wears a sarcastic smile, pressing a hand to her heart in even further mockery to prove a point - "Wow." She drawls sarcastically, "Good for you."
"My point is, Sujin -" Headmistress Jeong straightens her posture with pursed lips, "- The remainder of this year will only be as difficult as you allow it to be. It's that simple. You want to cross lines and make things harder on yourself? Be my guest. But this experience could also be one you come to enjoy..." She primly folds her hands in her lap, "If you're willing to cooperate, that is." And eyes the girl in front of her with a warning glint in her sharp features, "You will cooperate, won't you Miss Han?"
