Wonyoung was stepping out of her perfectly arranged room, looking as beautiful and flawless as always. She wore a camp shirt, but this one was dark blue with the dove symbol in the center, accentuated by a slightly darker shade of blue.
"Hey, Haerin! Did you sleep well?" she asked.
"Pretty well, though it took me a while to fall asleep at first," Haerin replied.
Wonyoung nodded. "It takes some getting used to, but you'll see we have the best beds in the whole camp."
"They're quite elegant and don't look like typical camp beds."
"Because we deserve it, Haerin," Wonyoung smiled. "Hey, you need to put on this shirt."
She handed Haerin a shirt similar to hers.
"For today's game, we start in the morning," Wonyoung explained. "It might seem early, but the sooner we finish, the sooner we can celebrate our victory. Besides, I need to show you some things first. Let's grab some breakfast."
They headed out of the cabin and strolled through the camp. There weren't many campers outside; it was still quite early. The temperature was a bit chilly, giving Haerin shivers for wearing short clothes, but she also appreciated not feeling too hot.
They reached the empty dining hall. "Here," Wonyoung handed Haerin a small bag. "I decided to give you this for your first day. It'll be useful today."
It was an enchanted bag, just like the one they used for the picnic.
"Thank you!" Haerin said gratefully.
Wonyoung smiled. "You're welcome. You better fill it with a canteen you can find around here and some food from the dishes."
Both of them went to Aphrodite's table and filled the bag with fruits and easily portable food for the countryside. What surprised Haerin was not only how so much could fit in such a small bag, but also that it seemed as if she wasn't filling it at all. It was like it was still empty.
"And finally," Wonyoung rummaged in her bag, "take this. Hopefully, you won't need to use it."
She handed Haerin a small glass vial containing a golden liquid and some small golden cubes.
"Nectar," she pointed to the vial, "and ambrosia," she pointed to the cubes. "Not the same as the insects' nectar."
Haerin laughed.
"It's the food of the gods. If you're wounded or hurt, it can heal you since we're demigods. But don't overuse it, or you could melt."
"Are you serious?" Haerin asked in surprise.
Wonyoung nodded. "We're half-gods; we can't eat the same things as our divine parents without consequences."
"Sounds tempting," Haerin joked.
Wonyoung widened her eyes but then laughed. "Come on, rookie, don't be in a hurry to die. They'll beat you up today."
Haerin shook her head. "I hope not."
"I hope so too," Wonyoung said.
They walked until they reached what seemed to be the armory, next to the arena where she saw the hunters carrying bows. There were armors displayed on racks, and helmets stacked in a corner, almost covered in dust. Some swords of different sizes and thicknesses, as well as bows and arrows, were also stacked.
"I'm not very knowledgeable about weapons," Wonyoung began, "I should have called Dani or someone else to help you."
"Well, for today, I'm sure I can find something that fits," Haerin replied.
