A pang of disappointment shot through Yeonjun, but he quickly brushed it aside. He denied the feeling, trying to convince himself that he didn't care. Beomgyu was not his concern; he was just a new partner assigned to him. Nothing more.
He glanced at the empty living area, the silence feeling strangely hollow. For a brief moment, he allowed himself to acknowledge the void left by Beomgyu's absence.
With a sigh, Yeonjun shook his head, scolding himself for being irrational. He shouldn't care about Beomgyu, he told himself firmly. It was a temporary arrangement, and he had no place for attachments in his line of work.
He wasn't getting attached to beomgyu, he thought it was normal to think about him since they were living together.
But he wondered, where did Beomgyu go? Yeonjun realized that Beomgyu was still unfamiliar with the area and might not know his way around. He contemplated for a moment, his thoughts clashing with his usual aloofness. Part of him wanted to dismiss it as none of his concern, but another part of him felt an odd sense of responsibility.
Shaking his head in frustration, Yeonjun decided to go and look for Beomgyu. He wasn't doing it for Beomgyu's sake; it was just to prevent any unnecessary trouble that might arise from the new partner wandering around lost.
As Yeonjun stepped out to look for Beomgyu, he was surprised to see the younger man coming out from Soobin and Kai's house. The two people he hated the most. A mix of concern, disappointment, and fury surged through him, but he quickly masked his emotions behind his usual cold facade.
It seemed like Beomgyu and Soobin were bidding farewell to each other, and as their eyes met, Beomgyu stopped in his tracks. Yeonjun narrowed his eyes slightly, trying to gauge Beomgyu's reaction.
Beomgyu's expression was hard to read, but there was a hint of guilt in his eyes. Yeonjun wondered what had transpired between Beomgyu and Soobin during their time together. He felt a pang of jealousy, but he pushed it away, reminding himself that Beomgyu was none of his concern. He was just hating the fact that beomgyu was getting along with no one but the people he hated the most.
Maintaining his cold demeanor, Yeonjun stepped inside the house without even approaching Beomgyu. He had no intention of showing any concern or interest in Beomgyu's whereabouts. After all, he wasn't lost, and Yeonjun had more pressing matters to attend to. With a dismissive glance, he walked past Beomgyu, leaving the younger man standing there, feeling a mix of relief and irritation at Yeonjun's indifference.
Is he mad or is he not? beomgyu thought.
Beomgyu followed Yeonjun immediately, as if he was running for his life. Despite knowing that Yeonjun didn't care about him, it had become a habit for Beomgyu to follow him. The young man couldn't help himself, as if an invisible force compelled him to be near Yeonjun, even when he was being cold and distant.
He kept a few steps behind Yeonjun, trying not to show his desperation to catch up with him. Beomgyu's heart raced, and his mind was filled with conflicting emotions. He knew he shouldn't be so attached to someone like Yeonjun, but he couldn't help it. The more Yeonjun pushed him away, the stronger his desire to be closer to him became.
Beomgyu silently entered, following Yeonjun's footsteps. He watched as Yeonjun took a juice from the fridge, not sparing a glance in Beomgyu's direction, and then retreated to his own bed without a word. Beomgyu took a seat on his own bed, his eyes fixed on Yeonjun's figure, as he had done countless times before.
It was a scene he had become all too familiar with – the distance, the indifference, the silent communication between them. Beomgyu longed for something more, something deeper, but he couldn't bring himself to break through Yeonjun's walls.
