Soobin nodded, understandingly. "In short, he's a jerk" he said.
Beomgyu chuckled softly at Soobin's straightforward assessment. "Maybe" he replied, trying not to be too harsh. "He's just... complicated."
Soobin raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Complicated, huh?" he said. "I suppose that's one way to put it."
"Yeah," Beomgyu said with a small smile. "But I think there's more to him than meets the eye. He's got a lot of walls up, but I can sense that there's something deeper beneath the surface."
Soobin studied Beomgyu for a moment before nodding in agreement. He didn't wanted to ruin beomgyu's expectations so he kept quiet. "You might be right," he said.
The atmosphere became a bit awkward, and both of them fell into silence. Sensing the tension, Soobin decided to break the ice. "Hey Beomgyu, want to come inside? I mean, to my house?" he offered with a friendly smile.
Beomgyu hesitated for a moment, considering the invitation. He didn't know Soobin well, but he found his company comforting so far. "Sure, that sounds nice," he replied, his nerves settling a bit.
As they stepped into Soobin's house, Beomgyu felt an immediate sense of comfort and warmth. It was a stark contrast to the cold and sterile atmosphere of Yeonjun's place. Soobin's house had splashes of color, tastefully arranged furniture, and beautiful paintings adorning the walls. The air carried a cozy fragrance that reminded Beomgyu of home—his real home, before everything changed.
Beomgyu couldn't help but smile as he looked around, taking in the inviting ambiance of the place. It felt like a breath of fresh air, a much-needed break from the rigid and serious environment he had been living in.
"Soobin, your house is amazing," Beomgyu remarked, genuinely impressed by the welcoming atmosphere.
Soobin grinned, looking pleased with the compliment. "Thanks! It's all kai's doings" he said warmly.
Beomgyu nodded, a small smile on his lips. "Yeah, I've met Kai," he replied. "Are you two partners?"
Soobin's grin widened. "Yep" he said. "Kai and I have been partners for Many years now. We've been through a lot together."
Kai emerged from a room that Beomgyu hadn't noticed earlier, almost as if he had been hovering there, listening to their conversation. He had a playful smirk on his face as he joined Soobin and Beomgyu.
"I hope you're not talking too much about me, Soobin," Kai teased, nudging his partner in the side.
Soobin chuckled. "Of course not," he replied, shooting a knowing glance at Beomgyu, who couldn't help but smile at their easy banter.
Kai's playful grin softened into a warm smile as he turned to Beomgyu. "It's good to see you going out, Beomgyu," he said genuinely. "It's important to explore and get to know the place you'll be calling home."
Soobin chimed in, feeling a tinge of guilt for his initial brusque behavior. "And yeah, sorry for the first time we met. I wasn't at my best," he admitted, his voice apologetic. "But I hope we can start fresh now."
Beomgyu appreciated Soobin's honesty and nodded with a small smile. "It's okay," he replied. "I understand, and I guess we all have our moments."
Curiosity got the better of him, and Beomgyu couldn't help but ask, "But why were you guys there that day?"
Soobin glanced at Kai before answering. "Well, you see, there are certain duties that we take turns doing here in xantheria," he explained. "Like Guarding, patrolling, and just keeping an eye out for anything unusual near the holes"
