Life isn't easy. For someone on the planet Novis? Even more so. For some odd reason the four spirits of creation decided to play a cruel joke on me and cursed me to not have the ability to use magic. My name is Nairan Claraman and I am a powerless human in a world of magic.

On the planet Novis magic reins supreme as the ultimate power amongst the many people who live here and some are naturally more gifted than others in the ways of magic. There are three major races on the planet Novis. The elves, dwarves, and of course us humans. The elves are amongst the strongest users of magic. Though they are the smallest part of the population as well as the most mysterious. They keep their affairs to themselves and never seek assistance from the other kingdom's. The dwarves are stout and have far more advanced technology than the rest of the world since they are the weakest in raw magic power compared to the other races on Novis. Instead of raw power they focus on using their magic to advance their technology making incredible inventions such as their metal behemoths that they use for both mining critical resources and defending their kingdom. The last of the people of Novis are the humans. I am among their ranks and we are the most prevalent of the three races. Our strength has always been our numbers but we also have the shortest life span which hinders our wisdom in the ways of magic. Though because of our numbers we are far more sporadic in terms of our talent. There are those such as me with little or no magic power. We are rare but there is still a number of us mixed with the populous. We also have some of the most talented magicians in the world. Their only short coming is their lack of time to become as masterful as the elves. The elves have always known this and tend to be far more prejudice towards the other races because of this.

No one knows much about the state of the elven empire other than it is still in power. This stems from their practice of isolationism as a way of keeping the other races out of the elven empire. The only reason the world knows they are still in power is that they continue to send students to Claradeus Academy with the backing of the imperial government. The current headmaster of Claradeus academy is oddly a dwarf named Graven Mitheran. Not to be prejudice towards the dwarves, in fact we human and dwarves get along quite well but the fact that a dwarf is powerful enough to be made the headmaster of the most prestigious magic school of the land is strange to say the least. Together the dwarves and humans form the largest trade network on the continent of Jasoul.

Speaking of Jasoul. It is the home of all life on Novis. Jasoul is a super continent that is surrounded with glistening blue oceans of immeasurable depth. No one has ever been able to study the depths without either suffering from terrible luck with weather or equipment. Several have foolishly tried to persevere and it lead to their demise. No matter if it was the strongest elven magic or the most advanced dwarven technology. Neither have been able to uncover the secrets of the depths. Due to this even surface ships avoid going into the depths believing it to be bad luck or too treacherous. Jasoul itself is split three ways between the three races. The empire of the elves known as The Emerald Forest to most is in the southeastern corner of Jasoul and extends out to Claradues Academy in the center of the continent. It is mostly comprised of a deep and flourishing forest. From an airship the dense trees of this forest make the land look like a gleaming emerald hence the name. However the elven empire has been around so long that it has many names. Some were lost to time but the one name elves use for their homeland is Eath'she Empire. To the north lies the dwarven kingdoms. They are known as the Four Mountain Kingdoms collectively. The land is an incredibly immense mountain range that covers a third of the continent on its own. Inside of these mountains are four capital cities. Each with its own king and citizens. The dwarven kings do not have borders drawn throughout the kingdom for each other. Instead they work as a collective to defend their land from outsiders and each oversees a different section of their economy. I don't know the exact details of each city but it seems to work for them.
