"You know she bothers me from time to time."

"Bit-... girl why you tellin a lie to this lady?" She shrugged while she walked over to grab her purse.

"Who said I was? She asked a question and I answered."

"You can follow hea' out." She laughed before walking over to kiss my grandmother's cheek and leaving, now myself and my grandmother in my room. She then shut the door while I walked to my mirror to examine myself. "Y/n?" I hummed as I sensed what she was going to discuss.

"Now ya know ya mama and her side gon be there too right?" I hummed quietly as I took a deep breath.

"Of course. That's hea son, ain't it?"

Y/n."

"MawMaw, you ain't gotta do all this. Imma be on my best behavior." She sighed while watching me grab my belongings.

Besides my recovery and business, I haven't spoken to Shanda which has left us stagnant. On the other hand, Ryan and Trey have continued to communicate with her from what I've heard. Though she has asked for me, I am still not in a space to meet her halfway. It may seem immature to some, but I just don't think it's good for me for mutiple reasons.

First, too much has occurred in my life which has kept me distracted from the status of our relationship. Second, her presence has resulted in trigger moments for me and I don't want to continue to have moments with her that could result in an argument. Finally, my mind is weary with the news of Trey possibly not being my father's son and I just can't be in her presence on my own time.

However, my love for my brother will forever outweigh the disdain I hold for her and if it includes sitting seats away from each other during his graduation then so be it.

"Just at least do it for Trey." I sighed before kissing her cheek sweetly.

"Always." She smiled before grabbing my cheek. "But if Treveon try me, I'm goin back to 201." I stated referring to my maternal cousin who happened to be an enemy to me.

Growing up, Treveon was that cousin who was mad with somebody else but because they knew they couldn't beat that person, they would direct their frustrations onto you.

With him being a few years older than me, it was harder to fight at one time due to being much smaller than him. He would hit me, spit out lies about my father, and even make hurtful comments regarding my health condition. Even when Ryan would fight him for me, it would only fuel him to mistreat me more.

Once I got older, I gained more muscle and height which made it easier to become a physical match to him. Though I beat his ass from time-to-time, his slick ass mouth was the only thing that he could maintain.

I watched as my grandmother left the room allowing me to button up my shirt and grab the gift box and envelope I had for Trey. I grabbed my other belongings before shutting my door to my master suite.

I walked downstairs to see Robyn playing with my cousins, Christian, Jordan, and Paris, and the other adults, Ryan, our grandmother, Aunt Keisha, and Mr. Brown chatting while eating the breakfast prepared by my aunt. "Good mornin, y'all." Everyone greeted me with the same enthusiasm as I walked into the kitchen. "Is Trey ready?"

"Nah." Ryan said as he cut into his pancakes. I smacked my lips before opening my mouth.

"Why the hell not?"

"Watch ya mouth." I looked over as my grandmother looked over unamused as she despised the use of cuss words.

"He still gettin dressed, bruh."

"I'm sorry but he gon be late to his own sh- stuff." I added while cleaning up the last part.

"Bruh, it's literally 8:32 in the mornin and it ain't nun but 20-30 minutes from here. We gon be good." I smacked my lips out of annoyance.
