A loud thud was heard " Hmm... It's two o'clock, I think..." said the clock who resembled The Thinker. It has blood on it. A man breathing trembling showing him hovering above a dead woman's body. " I-I've gotta pin this on someone. Oh, I know!" he said showing a man with spikey hair and a beard walking past him " He'll do..." he said. He smiles deviously and chuckles.
In modern day metropolis Japan, it was spring time and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. In a small, quiet suburb neighborhood outside of the city, birds chirping outside. Inside was a bedroom with a file divider and an alarm clock saying 09:13. Paper and books were on the desk showing multiple boxes in the apartment signifying he just moved into his new apartment and hadn't finished unpacking. He was fixing his hair while looking at the mirror with a box in the way as he moves the box out of the way and fixies his attorney badge. He nods his head in satisfaction
He was riding his bike to work. His name was Phoenix Wright. He was a defense lawyer. " My name is Phoenix Wright, a rookie attorney, who just got his badge three months ago." he narrates as he drives over a small bridge. Phoenix panting as he bikes up a steep hill smiling "'And today, for the first time, I set foot on the courtroom as an attorney!" said Phoenix.
At the courthouse, Phoenix arrives as he makes a sharp turn at the entrance on his bike and heads to the bike post. Inside, attorneys were getting ready for the trail to start soon. In Lobby 2, it was March 26, 9:47 AM District Court— Defendant Lobby No 2. Two women were waiting for Phoenix to arrive. The second woman was of average height with a fairy length hairstyle. She had fair peach colored skin and dark green eyes. She had a slim, hourglass looking frame and a c-sized rack. She wore a white button up shirt tucked into a black trousers. She wore a wood brown belt with a golden buckle in the loop holes and see through knee length stockings and black heels. " Fey & Co. Law Offices Chief— Mia Fey. " What's keeping Wright?" said Mia looking at her watch. " He's gonna be late to the trail, at this rate." she said. Her name was Helena or " Elle" what her friends and coworkers called her. She was also a defense attorney. She kept fidgeting with her diamond necklace she wore around her neck. You see, Ellie was a very special person. She has autism. The first defense attorney in Japan to have a neurological disability. He comes in " Excuse me!" he said coming in and exhales in relief " Sorry, I'm late..." he said. " The trail begins at 10 am. I hope you're ready." said Mia. He straightens up " I am!" he said " Sorry to force you to take time to be here for me, Chief, Ellie." he said. " Don't mention it. I mean, it's my beloved subordinate's first-ever defense. I wouldn't miss it for the world." she said as she winks at him. " Me too!" said Elle. " Thank you!" he said. They walk together down the hallway " But I must say I'm impressed. Not everyone has the courage to take on a homicidal trial, right off the bat." said Mia. " She's right. I've been wondering what made you want to take this case?" she said. " I wanted... no, I had to do this. Because I owe him a favor." he said showing the keychain on his backpack. " Huh? A favor? Do you mean, to the defendant?" she asks. " Yes. Actually, I kind of owe my current job to him." he said. They arrive at the room " Well, that's news to me." she said they come to a stop at courtroom 2 " I want to help him in any way I can!" he said. The doors open as they walk into the empty court room as they defense and the prosecutor take their stands and do the people in the stands. It was March 26, in the District Court— in Courtroom No. 2. Prosecutor— Winston Payne. The doors open and the police bring in the defendant " That's my client, Larry Butz. He's been my best friend since grade school." said Phoenix " Nick! It wasn't me!" he cries as he turns and yells at the officer " What's your problem? Lemme go!" he yells as he was pushed into his seat " Nick! It wasn't me!" he said. " I know. I believe you." said Phoenix " Nick!" he said showing the newspapers " But the newspapers say it was you." he said. " Model Murdered in Own Apartment in Broad Daylight!!" read the title " Wright..." said Mia " So he's the one who motivated you to become an attorney?" said Mia. " Yes." he said. " He's a good guy at heart. He just has terrible luck." he said as he slumps in his chair as the officer pulls him upright as he slumps. They sweat dropped " He doesn't seem to have the best attitude." said Mia. " He just has terrible luck and a terrible attitude." he said " U-Uhuh." said Elle as she turns " Anyway, you must believe in his innocence to the very end. Do not forget that." she said. " I won't!" he said as the judge takes his stand as he grabs his hammer and bangs it " Court is now in session for the trial of Mr. Larry Butz." said the judge. " The prosecution is ready, Your Honor." said Winston " The defense is ready. Your Honor." he said. " Then, your opening statement, Mr. Payne." said the judge " At once, Your Honor. The victim was Cindy Stone. A twenty-two-year-old model. She was found dead in her apartment's living room. We have concluded she was murdered from the autopsy results and the state of the scene. Time of death is estimated to have been around 4 or 5 PM. The cause, blunt force trauma to the head. The murder weapon was this statue of The Thinker. I present it to the court as evidence." he said. " Accepted." said the judge " But I must say, this is a modern thinker indeed." said the judge " Not " modern"! It's " Rodin! That is the gift of love I made with all my heart and soul!" he said. " Oh, so it's handmade?" said the judge. " By the way, we found the defendant's fingerprints on the murder weapon." he said. " Huh?! No way!" he said. Phoenix deadpans " You made it by hand. Of course your fingerprints are all over it!" he thought. Larry had pleading eyes " Nick! Let me state my case, man..." he said. " At this rate, I'm gonna be found guilty!" he said as he grunts " The prosecution would also like to call the defendant to the stand." said Mr. Payne. "Very well. You may proceed." said the judge " All right! Hell, yeah!" he cheers. " Looks like your friend has a foul mouth, to go with his terrible luck and attitude." said Mia. Phoenix laughs sheepishly and rubs the back of his head. Larry takes the stand and Phoenix gets ready to defend him when he remembers a certain memory showing him crying. " Now, Mr. Butz... It seems you were recently dumped by the victim." he said. " Watch it, buddy! We're the twentieth century's greatest couple!" said Larry. Nick lets out an exasperated breath " The twentieth century ended a long time ago, dude." thought Phoenix " But, lately, she'd been ignoring my calls, just a bit. And standing me up, just a bit." said Larry. " That is generally what we call being dumped—" he said. " Shut up with your nonsense!" yells Larry. " Then you knew about her trip overseas?" he said as Larry looks confused " T-Trip overseas? That's news to be, just a bit..." said Larry. He shows a passport " This is the victim's passport. According to this, she returned from New York the day before the murder. We also found a photograph taken during the trip." he said. Larry grunts in shock seeing Cindy holding his present " My present..." he said. " I present these two items to the court as evidence, Your Honor." he said. " Accepted." he said. " Huh? Hang on a second! Who took that photo?" said Larry. " The man with whom she went, of course." said the man. " Aw! Hell, no!" said Larry. Phoenix sweat drops " Please stop repeating that word..." said Phoenix. Larry repeatedly hitting his head on the stand " And there we have our motive. The defendant heard about this, and murdered the victim in a rage." he said. " Yes. That is quite the clear motive." he said. " Wait a second..." he said. " I didn't do it, I swear!" said Larry. " By the way, on the day of the murder, did you visit the victim's apartment?" he asks " M-Maybe I did! And maybe I didn't!" said Larry. Phoenix makes a face " I can hardly bear how dumb he is at playing dumb." said Mia. Ellen hums in agreement. " You don't remember? Then, let me remind you... the defendant is lying, Your Honor! The prosecution would like to call its key witness to the stand." he said. The crowd murmuring " A witness?" said Phoenix. The judge hits the gravel " Order! Order in the court! Escort the witness to the stand." said the judge as the man comes to the stand " Hello." he greets while rubbing his hands together " Get ready, Nix. This is where things get real." said Elle
