Esmereeʼs POV

I never knew being reborn with a memory of my past life can be this cruel. It felt like a curse. I woke up not myself physically, but I am tortured mentally and emotionally. I should've known. Nothing ever comes out good without paying a hefty price. And the price for being reincarnated was this.

We were washing the clothes in the river while he's chopping the logs for firewood.

“You should keep yourself from going out too much,” aniya pagkatapos itakin ang kahoy na nahati sa dalawa.

I've never seen him chopped woods until today but I regret seeing it because he looks so manly with his biceps and sweat. Wala siya pang itaas na damit kaya nasisilaw ang aking mga mata sa katawan niya but I kept my cool. I don't want him to see that I am charmed by him physically.

I should start keeping myself away from guys like you. That should be the line. Ayokong maulit ang nangyari dati. I was too naive to fall inlove with a single touch of lie.

“Are you holding me prisoner?” I said, dumping his clothes in the water.

Fine, I don't care. I'll do whatever I want to do. His words can't stop me. I need to go to the oalace as soon as possible. I don't want to be submissive anymore.

“Do I?” tanong niya at saka pagalit na tumabi sa akin at pinagpatuloy ang paglalaba. “I'm telling you to stay for your own sake.”

I rolled my eyes and moved a little away from him. The smell of the water mixing in the air feels so refreshing. The waters are cold as ice but the century-old trees protects the waters from being frozen. It looks like a paradise straight from a book.

“I never intended to make you feel like I'm restricting you,” he said out of nowhere.

I was shy to make eye contact with him as he is probably already looking at me.

“... I'll dye your hair, it gets too much attention when you go to town.”

He did dye my hair before we hopped into this small town away from

They were kind enough to take me into their shelter. They provided me food, clothes, and the things I need that sometimes I feel guilty. They even tended my wounds.

I stared at him while I remained inside the cloak he gave me. I think this was his. The cape was wearing me, not the other way around.

“Calil,” I called out his name but it wasn't enough for him to hear.

The streets were too crowded, there were merchants on every side of the street.

“What is it?” he asked, his eyes not on me. He completely looks bothered and keeps on frowning. As if he is alert if something ever happens.
