"Alrighty, it's time for dinner." Kyle said, pausing the credits of Constantine.
"But- but..." I protested. I could sit and watch scary movies all day.
"Uh-uh, no buts. Come on." He grabbed my hand and pulled me to my feet. "You're going to like this."
I wrinkled my nose as I stumbled after him, I don't know if I like this. But their was another part of my that was squealing like a little girl. Why did I have so be conflicted about this?!
Kyle stopped walking and I bumped into his shoulder. "Don't bite my hand," he hissed.
"Wha-" I began when he wrapped his hands around my eyes. His hands had calluses and were rough, but oddly they felt nice. A blush spread across my cheeks. Why was I noticing these things!? I wondered what Gisele would think about this situation. She probably be aweing like this was the cutest thing ever.
A sudden sting smell cut off the rest of my thoughts. It was wonderful! A mix of jasmine, orange blossoms... chocolate. My mouth watered. I don't know about you, but chocolate is my life. Chocoholic to the end!
Kyle peeled his hands back and I saw a tiny table a few feet from the pool, lit with candles and covered with chocolate covered fruit, plain fruit, and a bowl of salad. "There's ice cream in the freezer." He whispered in my ear.
I shivered. "Kyle... you've really outdone yourself."
"Well, I felt bad for scaring the pee out of you on the first date." He shrugged.
I slapped his chest, "I didn't pee! "
He only laughed and led me to my seat, he pulled it out for me to sit and pushed me in. He took out a fizzy drink and poured out in our cups, putting on a thick French accent, "Dinna iz zurved"
I laughed and stuffed a chocolate covered strawberry into my mouth. Moaning, I placed like thirty more on my plate. I know, I'm a pig. But they were so good!!
Kyle put a bunch of pineapple on his plate, then some salad, followed by a big glob of chocolate. "What?" He asked when I looked at him. "I'm a chocoholic."
I nodded, "Same."
We ate in silence until I sat back, smiling. "That was great. You're quite the romantic, Mr. Parks."
"That's good! I was so stressed that you wouldn't like it, Ms. O'Connell." Kyle sighed, smiling in return.
Oh, my dear Lord. His smile was gorgeous! Hey! Snap out of it, Finley Lisa O'Connell! I cleared my throat, "I'm full. Now what?"
He shrugged, still smiling. My heart beat against my ribcage so hard I thought it would break out. Ew. That would suck. "Well, it's only seven-thirty. I was hoping this date would last till eleven."
"Sure, we'll watch..." I scowled. "I haven't seen Annabelle."
"But you saw The Conjuring?"
"And Evil Dead all in the same week."
He whistled, "I'm impressed. The remake?" When I nodded his smile turned into a grin. "You've got good taste in movies."
"I grew up on scary crap. Mom's a huge horror movie fanatic. We can't watch Saw though. Those just plain freaked me out." I shuddered. I got out of my seat and faced Kyle, my back to the pool. "Thank you, this was sweet."
"Not finished quite yet, tomboy." He got up and strode toward me, I backed away. What was he doing?! We strictly said kissing was out of line! His hands were placed on my shoulders and suddenly, he shoved me backwards.
"Kyle!" I shrieked as soon as I resurfaced, soaked. The pool was sill freezing like I remembered it.
He doubled over, laughing, pointing at me. I spit hair from my mouth and pulled myself out by the edge. "Jerk," I growled.
He backed away from me and I went to go sit back down. He fell for it, relaxing. I suddenly rammed into him with my shoulder, he yelled out, his hand grasped my wrists. Then he dragged me in with him. As we hit the water, he wrapped his arms around my waist, holding my close. To be honest, I didn't mind.
I kicked, swimming to the surface, and laughing when Kyle came up, his hair in his eyes. I reached over and brushed it away. He inhaled sharply and I froze, my fingers grazing his skin.
"This is awkward," I chuckled and pulled away. Maybe my drink got spiked again. I don't usually act like that. As I pulled away, Kyle grabbed my hand with his, gripping tight. Uh... okay. The practical side of my brain thought. The little girl side was squealing, He's holding my hand! Kyle Parks! Ehhhhhh!!!!
I blinked, shush. I told my brain. Especially you, little girl side!
My arm made its way around Kyle's neck and I was leaning toward him. My drink was spiked, I thought. Then our lips met.
The memories of that cursed night came flooding back but I ignored it. Kyle tasted like chocolate and chlorine. My head was swimming. Think! My practical side wailed. The girl side was basically singing, Kyle...
Gisele would be proud I followed my girl side.
Everything came to a screeching halt when a girl screamed, "Holy effing bags of dirt!" Kyle and I sprang apart, flushing. "Are you kidding me!?"
A girl version of Kyle glared daggers at her brother before rushing over to me and throwing a towel into the water. "Girl! Did you even think about the fact you're wearing a white shirt!?"
"Huh?" I said. Then I looked down and cursed, I'm such a friggin' idiot! I put the towel over my shoulders, blushing. Holy moly... My shirt was entirely see through and I was just kissing Kyle....
Kissing Kyle... my girl side whimpered. Kiss Kyle.
SHUT UP!!!
"Let me go get you a t-shirt." Girl Kyle said, then she was gone.
"You pervert!" I screamed, kicking at Kyle. "Why didn't you tell me?!"
"I didn't notice," he said, his eyes were staring at my mouth. Ugh! Boys! "I want to kiss you again. Did I say that out loud!?"
"Sexist jerk." I hissed. Girl Kyle came back and tossed a black shirt at me. "I'm Hanna." She said.
I crawled out of the water and pulled on the shirt. "Finley."
"Wait," she held her hands up at me. "The Finley!? My brother's been obsessing over you since the freshman party!"
I looked at Kyle, who was making 'cut it out' signs rapidly at Hanna. I smirked, "Well, I didn't know you were a stalker too! You freaking son of a-" Some very not nice words spilled from my mouth and Hanna started laughing.
"And he deserves it!" Hanna said.
Kyle stood back, watching me with dad eyes as I cussed him out. Serves him right! Player! Stalker! Kyle Parks! Sexy!
Wait... back up. Oh, dang. I really need to get to my phone. I pushed passed Hanna and collected my phone, dialing Gisele and disappearing into the bathroom.
"Wonderful Wizard of Oz speaking." She said.
"Elle!!" I sobbed.
"Woah, crying. What happened!? You don't ever cry!" Her voice filled with worry.
"I kissed Kyle!" I cried.
"Backup! Huh?"
"I kissed Kyle Parks again!"
"You- again?" She froze.
Then, I poured out the details of the freshman party to her. Every bloody detail that I'd refused to tell anyone. No one knew but Kyle Parks himself.
