In which Arizona James makes it her mission to Be the first women to be drafted into the NHL. It all has to start with getting into the USNTDP. What happens when she meets the U18 Team USA Captain, Rutger...
It's been a few weeks since world juniors practices have started and everything was going well. I get along with the team really well. Mostly Rutger. I don't know that it is about him, we just clicked. Not to mention he's super cute. He also sweet though. He looks out for me more than the rest of the team does. Rutger and I decided to go get breakfast at IHOP before morning practice.
"I feel like I know nothing about you other than why you wanna be the first woman in men's hockey." Rutger says after the waitress takes our food order.
"Well, what do you wanna know?" I ask
"Just tell me about yourself. Not about hockey, or what people think of you. Yourself." He says.
"Well, Im originally from Chicago. I've lived there my whole life. I'm 17. My birthday is June 16th, 2004. I really like Taylor Swift and Zach Bryan. Uhm, I grew up in the city. I love Dr. Pepper. And I love trying international foods." I say naming almost everything I could about myself.
"What college do you want to go to?" Rutger asks
"Definitely Umich. I wanna be an athletic trainer maybe. Something with sports medicine." I say passionately.
"No way! I want to go to Umich too." Rutger says smiling.
"Roomies?" I say playfully
"Heck yeah!" Rutger says laughing

It's been a few weeks since Rutger and I's "breakfast date" as the team calls it.
Media has been buzzing. Both good and bad.

hockeynews: Team USA adds a new face to their roster. Better yet, it's a girl. Arizona James is her name, 17 from Chicago. Head coach Dan Muse states "James is a skilled player. She's also a skilled speaker. She tells you what you might not want to hear but you need to." But is that really what we need in hockey? Some motivational speaker?? What has our world come to? Hockey is a men's sport 🙄
