"Tell the staff to prepare for the operation right now. We are losing time" she said while rushing towards the changing room. It was her night shift, so she was the only available because her fellow colleague was gone on a wedding vacation.
She was one of the leading surgeons in AKH hospital of karachi, after changing quickly she entered the operation theatre. The bulb on the top of the door turned red meaning the journey of saving a life has started. It was a road accident case . The patient had a brain injury.
After a pretty long surgery of 4 hours , the bulb turned normal from red. And Dr . Reva Agarwal again saved a life!
Her team members were congratulating her, smiling she nodded at them mumbling small thankyous to them , she left to her home .
Reva reached her flat in less than 35 minutes, thanks to karachi traffic. she unlocked the door with her key that was always hanging around her favourite sand coloured bag .
Reva entered and met with the silence that she is gone habitual with. Placing her bag on the table, she laid on the couch to catch much needed breath which she lost while climbing the stairs, which were alot since she lived on the 3rd floor. After freshening up she warmed some milk for her , not forgetting to add her amma's secret powder to it, which gives instant relaxing feel.
She was hell tired but still had some energy to voicemail her papa that she was busy, couldn't attend his calls and not to worry about her, she is doing well. Her voiced cracked up a bit in btw nearly telling him that she misses them so much and wanted to return and her father would blindly say yes. She doesn't want to trouble them thinking that she feels lonely there. Being Living in a joint family, she was always surrounded with people . She loved her privacy so much that she left all behind her to grow but her habit of being surrounded by all doesn't change with time. It's been 3 years but still ! Her Amma used to say: " Ghar to Ghar hota h chahee Tu Kitna bhi dur chale Jaye . Ise bhulne k sawal he paida nahi hota"
Still in her thoughts she doesn't know sleep took over her.
