Chapter 9

Monday

The girls did just as Monique said they were going to. Once they got back to the hotel, they both took a shower. They binged watched movies the rest of the day, ordering Door Dash when they got hungry.

Renèe started functioning again, putting the conversation in the back of her mind.

Monique had taken the girl home and they were now in Renèe's apartment.

"Thank you again." Renèe said as she sat down on her couch

"You're welcome. I hope you had fun." Monique said

"I did. I'm wore out from it. Best time in a long time." Renèe said

"When are you going home?" Renèe asked

"You tryna kick me out. I thought we was locked in." Monique said jokingly and dramtically

"Mmtch, girl you play too much. I meant when are you going home to rest. I know you tired of me after 2 days." Renèe said

"I could neva be tired of you bae. What got you think that?" Monique said jokingly and dramtically while she sat next to the girl and wrapped her arms around her

"You play too much. Get off of me. And don't call me bae." Renèe said as she playfully shoved the girl back

"You know you like it. And I guess you right. I gotta check on Azaria. See if she didn't die without me." Monique said as she sat back on the couch

"Yeah. I guess I should check on Ashanti." Renèe said thinking out loud

"Alright lemme go 'fore she start blowing my phone. Gimme my goodbye kiss." Monique said jokingly while pointing to her cheek as they walked to Renèe's front door

"Monique get on." Renèe said shrugging off the girl's joke

"Please." Monique said teasingly

"Mmtch fine. This a thank you. Don't get use to it." Renèe said making the girl smile even more

"I won't." Monique said as she felt the older girl's lips touch her cheek

"Thank you. You really luh me." Monique said dramtically holding her face after Renèe moved away

"Bye! You play too much." Renèe said while trying to hold in a laugh

"Alright. Don't stress yourself out once you go to your classes tomorrow." Monique said seriously

"Alright." Renèe said with a sigh

"You heard me?" Monique asked

"Yes. I hear you." Renèe said

"Alright bye Renèe." Monique said before she walked out the door and Renèe closed it

Renèe stood at, the door after she closed it, smiling. She adored the girl's humor. But it felt real.

She caught herself smiled and quickly wiped it off her face and walked towards her bedroom.

Just as Renèe was about to lay in her bed, she heard a knock in the door.

"If this girl left something. I swear." Renèe said to herself as she went back to her front door

Renèe opened the door with a smile and dropped it too replace with a face of confusion once she saw Zion.

"Zion? What are you doing here?" The girl asked as the boy just invited himself in

"I came to see you." Zion said

"I told you I had plans." Renèe said as she closed the door

"Yeah but you back. I thought you said for the weekend. Why you wasn't back yesterday?" Zion asked

"Oh I just got back like 30minutes ago. My friend wanted me to stay with her a lil longer." Renèe responded

"Mmh. Alright. Who got you these flowers?" Zion asked as he peeped the new flowers on the girl's table

"My friend." Renèe said while rolling her eyes, getting tired of yet another interrogation

"Who's this friend?" Zion continued his questions

"Her name's Monique. We met at the party like 3 weeks ago." Renèe responded

"Her. I told you I ain't like how she was movin'." Zion said

"She not moving like nothing. We're friends." Renèe said, technically not lying. Monique hasn't done anything but voice what she wanted to do. She didn't actually do it.

"Alright well. You wanna go on our date now?" Zion asked

"Sure. Lemme go get dressed." Renèe reluctantly agreed. She didn't really want to go. She just didn't want to hear Zion's whining.

They had a decent date. Nothing special.

Renèe just thought Monique did better.
