Shooting In The Dark

Start from the beginning

Seeing Mr. Sully made you feel better and you moved to the rock he was on. "(Y/N), hurry!" But you hesitated, remembering what would help the most. "If you decide to fight and get hurt, come to me." Elder Ku'uu was waiting for you. Your mind flashed to when you saw him just hours ago, sitting alone patiently on that rock. "(Y/N), bring him here!" You looked over to Mr. Sully, who was shouting out your name but you couldn't bring yourself any further. You signaled for your ilu to set off and you were gone. "(Y/N)!" They were all screaming for you but if you didn't go now you might lose him. "(Y/N), come back!" You turned to them. "It's okay, I know someone who can help!" Mr. Sully had his fists balled, you were going to be in so much trouble. You kept moving, your last view of them being Lo'ak and Spider walking on the rock as Tsireya left them to go follow you.

"(Y/N)!" You couldn't move faster than Tsireya, not when it was only her, and she was able to go underwater at a faster speed. When she inevitably caught up to you asked for a favor. "Tsireya, go find me a Gill Mantle!" She looked confused and was about to protest when you shouted at her. "Go!" Neteyam was still breathing harshly as she dived down. "It's okay Tìyawn, you're gonna be okay." You put more pressure on his wound causing him to wince in pain. "I know, I know." You were getting lightheaded and frankly didn't even know if you were swimming straight. "(Y/N)..." He moved his head in your arm, you gasped harshly as you'd placed his head close to the wound on your arm.

"(Y/N)?" He moved his head further and the air painfully hit your open skin. "(Y/N), you're bleeding!" You looked down at his lower torso, you'd been looking back at that spot and his shoulder the entire ride thinking how could this happen and was all that blood down there just his? You knew you were shot in the arm and leg, but Neteyam had been shot in his shoulder and lower torso. If anyone needed help more it was obviously him, he struggled to just stay awake, or to keep himself up, you needed to get him to Elder Ku'uu. "(Y/N)-" You put more pressure on his torso. "I know, I know, it is okay, we are almost there." No, you weren't, you were probably a little over halfway there. "(Y/N)!" Tsireya had her head above water but kept her hand down, you saw the Gil mantle and calmed down a bit. "Neteyam, I need you to hold your breath for a bit, okay?"

He was looking at you in confusion as you took in a breath showing you needed him to take one of his own now. He did his best and you quickly took the Gil mantle and attached it to his kuru and then his back. You went twice as fast now, worrying less about Neteyam drowning. But you had to go above water more than usual, you were pissed about it but your vision was getting worse. There was black at the edges of your vision and almost everything was blurry. You needed to get him back now and then you could rest. Tsireya stayed with you instead of turning back, she was actually what saved you as she took the lead. You followed by being thankful you had someone who knew where they were going. When you saw the village you veered off, Tsireya noticed and the roles were reversed.

It didn't take long to get to Ku'uu and when you got close enough you separated the Gil Mantle and Neteyam. "Ku'uu!" His head snapped over to you and Tsireya. "Ku'uu! Help us!" He moved off his rock and came into the Ocean. "Tanhì," Neteyam looked weak and you honestly didn't know if he'd make it. You were shaking as Ku'uu was waist-deep when you met. "Help him please, he's shot!" Ku'uu took notice of where and moved your hand to put pressure on his torso. "Okay, bring him on land, come on." You nodded and moved. Tsireya accompanied you too, helping you move Neteyam. "Can you help him?" What if he couldn't? Oh Eywa, would Neteyam die without his family near? "I don't see any exit wounds." The guilt in your great sprouted, wouldn't his family want to say good-bye? "What does that mean?"

You got him on land, but Ku'uu kept moving. "It's good, check his shoulder." You moved the best you could to see as Tsireya held him up higher. "Elder Ku'uu, hurry, the healer's tent!" Ku'uu nodded to Tsireya, the healer's tent was probably one of the closest Marui to you. "No, there is no exit wound." Ku'uu nodded as you all kept going. "(Y/N), she's-" Neteyam groaned as you carried him. "It's okay Neteyam, you're gonna be okay." Getting up on the walkway was hard as it was a steep incline. "Move, make way! Injured coming through!" Ku'uu' a voice boomed throughout the entire village, it made you jump as you entered the healer's Marui. "Set him over here, Venskxim go get seaweed bandages, ointment-" Your body shuddered at the mention of ointment as Ku'uu kept listing off materials he needed.

"You two go outside." You set Neteyam down gently, caressing his face gently as you still helped him put pressure on his shoulder wound. "What?" Ku'uu raised his hand at your remark. "You two will only get in my way." You shook your head, ignoring the throbbing pain in your arm and the shocking pain in your thigh as you were on your knees. "Elder Ku'uu I am Tsakarem, I can help." He sighed and ultimately agreed. "Okay, Tsireya you may stay but (Y/N) you will only be bothersome if you stay." He hadn't taken his eyes off Neteyam for a second as Tsireya moved to take your spot. You wanted to protest but you knew you would be no help. So you let your hands slip off Neteyam and backed off.

"(Y/N), out, I mean it." You swallowed hard as the last thing you could see was a very blurry image of Neteyam being carried for by Ku'uu and Tsireya. You stepped outside taking a shaking breath and an even shakier step. You looked up at the sky seeing the Eclipse happening, that meant the stars would be coming out soon right? Though they weren't your stars, you'd just left yours in the healer's tent, right behind you. You took another small step, your whole body was shaking, your face was heating up, and the pain in your body was overwhelming now. As if it was hitting you all at once, your wound did not affect you when you were making your way over, why now? Why couldn't they just wait until you knew Neteyam was okay? The black surrounding your vision was taking over, the world around you was spinning and spiraling down. Your body felt hard as a rock sinking to the depths of the ocean while your head felt light as an atokirina. Then there was nothing but black and someone screaming your name far off in the distance.
