piece twenty-one

34 10 30

I dip my brush

and paint my nails in sapphire-blue,

covering my brittle nails,

and forgetting about you.

Every stroke removes the heavy weight

of the tasks on my daily list of to-dos.

For a moment, when time stops,

I remember that I won't always be endlessly blue.
