eventually, charlotte fell asleep, latched onto gracie's arm with her head against her shoulder, but the singer didn't get much sleep. she drifted in and out of sleep, waking up in the middle of the night in a fever of stress, a majority of the time wanting to shake charlotte awake and ask her again and again if everything was going to be okay. and when she did fall fully asleep, it felt like the shortest sleep of her life.
gracie woke up to the continuous sound of downpour rain and charlotte still clung to arm sound asleep. the room was so quiet, all she could hear was the steady breathing of charlotte and the rain, and she knew this was the quietest her day will probably be. she glanced to the clock, it was nearly ten am and gracie was supposed to be on her way to the studio right now, producing a song that she just wrote, but instead she laid contemplating waking up charlotte to a horrible day or let her sleep and stay at peace for a bit longer. but she knew that the longer she waited, it wouldn't change anything.
"char," she whispered, lighting running her nails gently through charlottes hair. "c'mon baby, wake up," she said, tapping her shoulder.
charlotte groaned and opened her eyes, tightening her position around gracie's arm, "where are we... oh sadie's."
the actress looked out the window, watching the rain with gracie as she moved to rest her head against the singers chest, wrapping her arms around her small waist.
"what if we just never leave this room. we can stay in here, grow old and gross and have sadie bring us meals," charlotte mumbled, watching the rain trickle down the window.
gracie let out a small chuckle, "as tempting as that sounds, we gotta talk to multiple people today," she rasped out. "which involves, leaving this warm, safe, fucking bed."
charlotte gave gracie a tender smile as her hand found it's way to hers, interlocking and squeezing tightly. squeezing each others hands had grown as a really common thing for them. they didn't say it, but both knew it helped each other feel safe and showed their care.
"how'd you sleep druggie," gracie smirked, letting charlotte bury her head into sadie's sweater that she was wearing.
"best sleep of my life. but now my head is practically splitting open and i can barely remember getting into this house," charlotte enthusiastically said.
"c'mon, sadie probably has advil," gracie replied, continuing to hold onto charlottes hand as they left the bedroom and made their way into the kitchen where they saw sadie sitting in front of her laptop.
the redhead turned around and it was impossible to not notice the concern on her face, "hey." she shut her laptop, so charlotte obviously knew that she was probably looking at the news about her and gracie. "i made um pancakes for you guys if you want.
charlotte looked to gracie.
"m'not hungry," she softly said to charlotte and went to go sit next to sadie.
charlotte sighed and grabbed a pancake as she sat across from them, watching sadie's eyes bounce between her to gracie.
"jude called me and told me everything. where does alex live?"
charlotte shook her head, "don't know and don't care. he can't ruin anything else anymore. hay aren't you supposed to be at work?"
"i called in sick. i wanted to make sure you guys were okay," sadie said, looking at charlotte with sympathy. "matthew's on the way by the way, jude told him as well and he insisted on coming over. he's probably bringing caleb and marcus too."
"god, i don't even wanna think about what people online are saying to matthew for getting involved in this," charlotte said.
"he's trending, just under you and gracie," sadie chuckled. "from the texts that were leaked it kind of looks like you've been two timing him and gracie 'cause it doesn't really mention how he's like a decoy, it's just your text that says 'matthew's my ''boyfriend'' but you're my everything.'"
