𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐀 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄𝐃 having a routine. It reminds her too much of the sense of being on autopilot much like a machine programmed to operate in a certain way during a specific time and that sounds way too robotic to her taste. Luckily Vic's job often provided her with many different things — sure she had a strict schedule that must be followed, but even the similar events she needed to attend usually surprised her with something out of the ordinary and that was fun. Not being glued to a routine had always been fun.

So imagine Victoria's astonishment to realize she was suddenly happy living a routine.

Her realization happened on a random Thursday when she was planting a new succulent Chris got for her. The man himself was helping Vic in her task — it wasn't the first time the duo spent time together gardening. In fact, for the last few weeks, they tended to Victoria's plants together at least once a day. Naturally, it became routine and the Davis woman didn't even notice.

Truthfully, Vic couldn't remember the last time she look forward to doing the same thing day after day.

In the mornings Chris and her would either play fetch with the dogs or take them for a walk, then later they meet in the kitchen where they'd prepare lunch. In the afternoons they'd work — sometimes in the same room enjoying each other's company, sometimes by themselves. At night, sometimes they would try and follow some food recipe one of them found online, but then when neither felt like cooking they'd just order takeout and binge-watch something on tv.

It was simple and boring, but so heartwarming.

"Are you okay?" Chris' voice brought the woman back to reality.

"Yeah, sure." she nodded her head. "I was just thinking, I guess."

"Oh, no." the man grimaced. "The last time you said that, we almost burned the kitchen."

"Flambéed sushi was not my best idea, I admit that." Vic laughed at the memory. "This time though I was thinking something entirely different..." the woman most definitely wouldn't mention aloud how she was weirdly happy with their routine, so she said the first that came to her mind. "We should probably bathe the dogs. They stink!"

"You hear that, boys?" Chris talked to the two dogs who were sniffing around the backyard. "Vic said you guys stink." Dodger and Zeppelin barely spared a glance in their owners' direction and continued to mind their own business. "Well, at least they're not covered in dirt."

"Dirt? I'm not—" before Victoria had the chance to finish her sentence, Chris grabbed a handful of the garden soil they had been using and threw it at her. "You didn't!" the brunette gasped, her denim jumpsuit was now covered in dirt.

Chris threw his head back as he laughed, only stopping when he felt the earthy substance touching her face. Vic was already on her feet, grinning like crazy as she tried to hide behind her back her hands that were full of garden soil.

"You started it!" she shrugged with feigned innocence.

"Oh, it's war then." the man took more of the garden soil and started walking towards her.

Vic was no fool and began to run only to have Chris do the same. Both adults started chasing each other in the backyard while throwing more soil at one another. It didn't take long for their dogs to join them, barking excitedly and wagging their tails. At some point, Chris reach out to grab Vic and finally end their little game, but just as he managed to hold one of her eyes the Davis woman slipped taking them both to the ground. The Evans man did his best not to crush Victoria with his weight as he fell on top of her, his hands were placed next to her head as he held himself up.

The 'quarentine buddies' laughed at their own little chaotic moment, but none moved. As their eyes met, something shifted in the air. Realization, perhaps.

Victoria was conflicted, this man on top of her had become her friend and she genuily enjoyed his company. It would be messy to step beyond the friendzone — even though their relationshi began witht them hooking up, that was an one time thing. Besides, the flutter on Vic's stomatch and the fast beating of her heart served as a warning that she might be catching feelings. Real fellings.

Uh oh, Victoria Davis might be falling in love again — and that's so not what she planned!
