"The magic that they taught was meant to be forgotten long ago"
As Meridel ran for her life, she could make out the yelling and cries for help and bloody murder. The students have finally made their way out of the god-forsaken school; although, their savors were not so kind. After they all killed off the professors they immediately turned to kill off all the students that have been learning under the keepers of the children.
Meridel felt her bare legs get scratched and her flesh torn open by the thorny forest floor. No other than the less, she ran. She didn't want her life to be meaningless, and she certainly did not want to end it empty. She was taught to use her powers for a reason; she was willing to learn that reason. She was told that she was a child of a powerful goddess, a chosen of the highest class Greek gods that made her powerful. She was always seen as a figure of her goddess among her peers, but they never treated her as such. Meridel was always shunned and ignored, by the jealous and the more powerful students.
She always knew in her heart that the teachers were hiding something from the students; they gave off that aura of mischief and dishonesty. But she would have never thought that her professors would be teaching the children about something that would risk their lives.
They were teaching godly magic. The magic they taught was meant to be forgotten long ago.
Now that people know that a bunch of children know a god, people want them all dead, and Meridel was no exception.
Meridel could hear the raiders' yells get louder and closer, this made her try to run faster than her legs could carry her. But with the thought of survival only stuck in her mind, she was not paying attention; a log came into contact with the tips of her feet and she flew into the thorny/earthy floor. She lifted her head and tried to get up and run again but a sharp pain rapidly spread across her ankle. She cried out in pain, as she looked behind her to see her ankle twisted in a very interesting way. She groaned loudly and tried to get up but she couldn't. Her head was pounding as her nerves were becoming more pronounced to Meridel. She was torn up, blood was rushing, she had a broken ankle, and she felt light-headed.
Meridel felt herself start to cry, as she realized that she was so sore that she couldn't even use her powers to heal herself. The yells and blood screams got nearer to her and she let out a sob. This was it, wasn't it? So she was gonna just die like this? Meaningless and empty as she feared?
Well, shit.
Meridel felt the urge to fall asleep as her crying slowed and her eyes began to drop. She heard a yell above her and felt two strong arms lift her...
And she felt herself be carried.
She blinked once, then twice to open her eyes. She was still in the forest, the raiders very close, but she wasn't too focused on that.
She was in the strong arms of a tall, lean, tanned, muscled..... Woman.
Meridel's heart soared as she looked into the girl's face, trying to get as many details of her before she died.
The girl has long black hair that was braided, her face has a bunch of scratches, and her eyes her a shining green. She had plump lips and almond-shaped eyes.
The girl was the most beautiful thing Meridel has ever laid her eyes on. And as this girl held her and ran, Meridel slept, accepting the rest, and what could be death.
