Chapter 6: Dinnertime and nightmares

Luigi and Wendy walked to dinner together. Luigi was excited because he hadn't met all the koopalings, but also nervous because he was worried that might not like him. He walked in and felt all the eyes on him. Unlike his older brother, he hated being the center of attention. He sat down at an empty seat, to the left of Bowser and next to Junior. He tucked the train underneath him and sat down anxiously. A couple shy guys came out with food, which they placed on the table. It was a medium well done steak with green beans. They all ate in silence, until Bowser spoke up.

"Wendy, why is he here?" "Because I thought it would make him happy! It must be very sad to eat alone, so I invited him so he could be happy!" Wendy replied excitedly. "Hm. I guess that makes sense. He can stay I guess." Bowser said. "But why is he wearing a dress? I thought only girls wear dresses." Lemmy asked. Those innocent words struck Luigi in the heart. At that moment, he just wanted to run back to his room crying. Wendy frowned at her brother, then said; "Well if he feels comfortable in the dress and wants to wear it, he can." Everyone stayed silent for the rest of dinner, and once they were finished, the koopalings got up and left, each going to their rooms. Wendy was the last to leave, and asked Luigi if they could play again tomorrow. Luigi nodded with a smile. He was about to leave before Bowser stopped him. "Can we talk?" Bowser asked. "Oh of course!" Luigi said. "Well, what are your intentions? I mean, you're my prisoner, but you're acting like a guest. Invention helping with Iggy, cooking for the koopalings, playing dress up with Wendy." Bowser asked. " Well....if I'm being honest I like it here. It's quiet and the koopalings are wonderful company. I love all their unique personalities and opinions." Luigi stated. Bowser was shocked that Luigi thought that the koopalings were interesting, which was something Peach never thought. She saw the kids as nuisances and spoiled brats, and refused to even give them a passing glance. She never helped with inventions or cooked or played dress up. Bowser looked at Luigi, immediately being met with two beautiful sparkling sapphires. "Sire? Can I leave?" Luigi asked. "Uh...I....y-yeah" Bowser stuttered. Luigi was confused about why he stuttered and swore he saw blush, but shrugged it off.

Luigi got up and went to his room, where his clothes were as well as a pair of dark green plaid pyjamas. He grabbed the pyjamas and changed into them, carefully putting the green dress in the closet as well as his regular clothes. He was pleasantly surprised when he saw a few green shirts and some black and brown pants in the closet. He laid down on the bed and quickly fell asleep. He was awoken in the middle of the night by his door creaking open, as a small head peeked through. Junior was standing in the doorway shaking, and shook even more when there was the sound of thunder and lightning. Luigi sat up and opened his arms, offering the young prince to come and lay with him. Junior quickly ran up onto the bed and shook when more thunder and lightning struck. Luigi hugged Junior tightly between his legs and gently pet his head to soothe his worries. "Junior, would you like me to sing you a lullaby?" Luigi asked in a gentle, almost motherly tone. Junior simply nodded his head and shook in fear when there was another clap of thunder. Luigi began to sing one of his favorite lullabies from when he was a kid to soothe Junior.

As Luigi was singing to Junior, Bowser was looking around for his son. When there was a thunderstorm, Junior traditionally came running to his room or office. Bowser was very shocked and worried when thunder kept striking and Junior had yet to appear. He walked around the castle, checking the kitchen, ballroom, throne room, and any other room he could think of. He stopped at Luigi's door when he heard a lullaby being sung.

He gently opened the door and saw Junior fast asleep in Luigi's lap as he sang the lullaby. Luigi smiled once he was done singing and kissed his head affectionately, falling back asleep immediately. The sight made Bowser slightly blush, but he quickly ignored it and walked back to his room to sleep.

A/N: Sorry the diner scene is absolute crap. I had no idea what to write except that Luigi was at dinner. The lullaby was taken from Google and it's an Italian lullaby called Ninna Nanna.
