Chapter 5 - Your Nerd is Showing

I make my way out back to the garage and quickly get to work and maneuver Scarlett's car inside. I turn on my speaker playing my Bad Bitch Vibes Playlist again, blasting it as I quickly get to work taking apart the melted coolant pump and working on flushing the system. Thanks to it being a newer car and not dealing with road salt in California like I did back home in Ohio and D.C., I don't have to fight with rust to take it apart so it makes the job easier. By the time June had finished lunch and sent the kids to come get me, I had finished taking off the bad pump, flushed the system, located the leak, and had started repairing said leak. As I walk into the kitchen following behind the kids, I pull out my phone and text Scarlett.

Y/n:
"Hey Scarlett, I'm taking a
small break for lunch, feel
free to call and check in if
you're able."

Scarlett:
"Okay, thank you, we are about
to take a break for lunch too,
I'll call shortly. Also just call me
Scar, all my friends do."

Y/n:
"Friends huh? If that's the case
then beware, I'll come up with
my own nickname for you. I
like giving unique nicknames
to friends."

Scarlett:
"Same here."

Scarlett changes Y/n's name to The Major 👩‍✈️

The Major 👩‍✈️:
"Wow, that's very unique lol"

The Major 👩‍✈️ changes Scarlett's name to Black Widow 🕷🕸

Black Widow 🕷🕸:
"Like that's much better"

The Major 👩‍✈️:
"Hey I'm working on it"

Chucking at the exchange, I sit at the table and the five of us enjoy a classic from my childhood, mac n cheese and hot dogs, for lunch. Rose seems to have come out of her shell a lot more since we got here. I watched the three kids joke and play around with a fond smile. Everyone just finished eating when my phone rang, I looked at the caller ID and saw that it was Scarlett.

"Rose, your mom is calling." Rose squeals excitedly running over to me and jumping into my lap as I accept the call.

(Y/n and Rose, Scarlett)

"Hey Scar, you got me and Rose."

"Hi mommy!"

"Hi baby, hey Y/n! How are you guys doing?"

"Good! Pj, Rora, and I have been having fun in the play room while Y/n/n has been working, we're going to watch Frozen later! And we just had mac n cheese and hot dogs for lunch!" Rose tells her mom excitedly.

"Mac n cheese and hot dogs, huh? That sounds delicious! I'm glad you are having a lot of fun Rosie! I can't wait to join you later!"

"I can't wait to see you later too mommy! I can't wait for you to meet PJ and Rora! They are so much fun to play with!"

"I bet baby, I'm glad to hear you made some new friends, but I have to get back to work now baby. I'll see you later tonight, okay? Keep being a good girl for Y/n for me, okay?"

"Okay mommy, see you later! I love you!"

"I love you too baby! I'll see you later Y/n, thank you again for doing this."

"Of course, it's a pleasure having her here, it's adorable watching these three talk and run around. Almost as if they have grown up together, I can't wait for you to see it yourself."
